Angry Please Help - Engine Serial Number

Dear All,

Please help, I cannot find the location of the Engine Serial Number. It is normally imprinted on the Engine Block somewhere....

Where I live the DMV require that number to register the Bike.

IT is not the VIN/Frame number which is on the front of the bike, it must be on the Engine.

Thank you

From the rear right side of the bike, look towards the front, it's on the back of the engine, in behind the clutch.

Wow, not even close to where the diagram in the Owner's manual says it is.

Look next to the lower right bolt holding on the header. Right next to it is a aluminum plate with the # stamped into it. If you look at the pic it's the part that looks grey. Hope this helps!

78611212C is the part number for the metal gasket, NOT the Engine ID.

It should be a number that looks like this "4BP C XXXXXX", but I can't find it!!!! !@#$

Owner manual is WRONG.

Called Ducati corporate direct. You have to take the fairings off and look at the BOTTOM of the HORIZONTAL CYLINDER.

OR - you can call Ducati corporate and give them your VIN # & they will tell you.

It is visible without pulling a fairing... Just not easy to find. Left hand side of the bike there is a cutout in the lower fairing. With a flashlight you can look directly up into the fairing and see a milled area where the engine number is stamped.

The picture posted where the numbers are visible on the rear of the head is a part number for the head itself. Engine numbers are stamped on the block.
