Seat

I just got my 1199 this week and I love the new riding position, much more comfortable than my 749 but I wasn't expecting the seat to be soooo uncomfortable! I can't get hold of a comfit seat for 4 weeks.

Do you get use to it or does it soften up?

Love everything else about the bike besides the seat.....

Oh yeah there is. Big thread on it... Sorry missed that one.

But I read the whole thing and didn't read if the seat loosens up after a while, I.e gets softer....

Nope. Not in 1000km anyway, which is when I switched to comfort seat. Went back to stock for one day last week, hated it, actually put more pressure on wrists trying to keep myself from sliding forward.

Had mine recovered in a grippy material, made a big difference. Just feel more part of the bike and not a passenger slipping around the place, allows you to get on with the task of riding. Don't mind the feeling of the stock seat and didn't want the extra height of the racing or comfort seat.

Hold out for a comfort seat. Well worth it ! My ass was killing me. Actually had to make a rest stop because of it ! With the comfort seat , I could ride all day with out getting sore.

Found the same issues with weight on the wrist. Really noticed it as I was riding around town. Going to try it again on a longer ride in the country, figure there will be more air flow over the bike taking some weight off the wrists.

The race seat should be the stock one. I put it on mine, and the stock one is now boxed forever.

So, I'm confused

Should I get the comfit or race, is the race seat like the old 999/1098 seats?

I'm not sure about the increased profile tbh.

Would like something that offered more grip and a nicer look though.
