I'm a Ducatista at heart and I've never bought a Ducati because it was the fastest or quickest...nonetheless I'm certain most on here won't agree with me or ADMIT that this bike is lacking in power. 2 months, 3200 hard miles (including 2 track days) I think I'm qualified to state the above. I already feel like I'm riding my bike to it's limits...I'm wringing it's neck for more power, whether exiting corner or straight away. (disappointed with their HP claim and real world dyno results) I will probably invest more money to get the power, but my stock 1198 felt faster and quicker tho not as much fun. Even my 999, w/ high compression pistons, 520 conversion 39 in the rear, full termis was a had full. I love my 1199, but maybe a used Desmo would suit me well |

Road Racing world dynoed the bike at 170 RWHP, what about that is not enough power???? on a bike significantly lighter (30 pounds less than ape or bmw). How much more power do you feel the bike needs to meet your expectations. Just curious. Quote:

God.. Its hard to tell honestly. I think it has very good power. My previous ride was a 1098 SF and it was enough. It was a actually a great combination of power a torque. Excessive in neither, just plain fun. At the track I found myself bumping into redline every now and then coming out of corners in the Pani. I have to say it has tons of power. Very impressive but it is not excessive. It is something that can be controlled and managed well with some experience on the bike. Specially with the smooth delivery. I do feel like it needs another 2k RPM for track purposes. It can get scary if pushed in first and second gear since it blasts after 8k rpm but seems to get to 11k too quickly after that. |

perhaps because the new bike is better poised suspension wise, it feels like you are down on power. you know, the classic improve the suspension, bike feels low on power due to the improved suspension until to increase the power to overpower the suspension settings. I guess the answer would be in your track times. are your track times remarkably better than on your 1198?

How high are you revving it? If you don't rev it all the way you don't get the full fury, if you lug it out of the corner in the midrange (5-6k rpm) it's slower than an 1198. Requires more focus on revs for sure than the prior bike Superbikes. What level DTC are you running it on? If you're on the track above L2 it will seriously kill your corner exits if you're a quick rider. Only asking because my Panigale is faster than any other Superbike I've had, 749R/848/1098/1198 but I have to rev it to get there and keep DTC from killing the corner exit drive. Above 9500 rpm it's "holy 5H1t, better hold on!" fast. You should never get passed on the straight at HPT on a Panigale!!

simply put... sell your bike and buy something faster. post what you want, but I don't see the point in this topic. s1000rr has lots of love here and info aviable. not trying to be a dick, but this this topic is getting really old. if you want tacos for lunch, get a taco. don't sit at the pizza place and bitch about their lack of tacos. |

Guy again, not tryna tute my own horn but I'm a pretty vicious rider...mainly on back roads, but I've also killed it at both my track days...check it my thread "TRACK ATTIRE". And I have taken everything you guys have said into consideration, it's not that I'm NOT getting the power out of the bike, what I'm saying is the power is not enough. It's all fun now, the bike doesn't scare me one bit (until over 170, and I can't tuck any lower...need a racing screen lol). My 1198 got to 176 quicker. I know how to get the power, I know how to keep the revs high. Yes a better handling bike will feel like it could use more power because it's easier to ride but, I can tell from feel that it's not to far ahead of my 1198. @ jarelj, watch my YouTube bid...my first ever track day (novice) after my first session I got pulled and asked how many track days I've ever attended...blew his mind that I've never done one before and they immediately bumped me to intermediate where I continued to thrash all day...lapping everyone. My second track day (different company running track) I started intermediate with tha same result...bumped to advanced (involuntarily). Ran hard with guys on slicks and even racers working on their times. The bike is a beast, but I personally need more power. I'm not convinced I'm getting 170bhp to the ground Last edited by DUCENZO; July 27th, 2012 at 08:31 AM. |

the 1199 might not be the strongest bike, but it now sit at the front of the pack of litter bike, and i believe the US version get neutered quite a bit due to emission control, just hang there and wait till tuner can unleash the full power of this bike. personally, that's plenty of power for me, as i dont care much for power. |

Stock cans, exhaust valve disconnected. If I were to get termis it would have to be the full system. I won't make such an investment until a little more research has been done on the new bike I'll try different gearing next, sprocket upgrade Thanks Last edited by DUCENZO; July 27th, 2012 at 09:46 AM.

It does not sound like the bike is down on power at all. As a matter of fact if you were to get slicks, work on the suspension you would be faster than everyone. So your point that it is down on power is not quite clear and as this is the only bike you have had on the track I'm not sure what you are comparing against? Looks like your next step would be a Moto GP bike

Motocycle usa tested the 1199 with a full system and seems like it was stonking , i can only see it get better with proper tunes. or do what i do: enjoy the 1199 now, with no upgrades, and save up for the "R" |

The bike is not exactly low on power, it's just that we're not getting it's full potential yet. I comfortably ride it to what I feel is it's limits (which is a good thing, says a lot about the suspension), I mean even on back roads I'm exiting corners hanging off wringing the throttle wide open and enjoying it lol....I guess I need to be scared every now and then
