2012 Arctic White 1200S Multistrada parked next to the Pani and they make a nice pair. considered the Pike's Peak, but adding on all the other gear and then paying extra for paint did not seem so smart a buy. Dealer let me take the one I liked right off the showroom floor out for a rip and I loved it! Traded in the R1 on the spot (with a respectably anticipated beat down in price) and rode of on the new Multistrada. Lots of extras thrown in! Great handling unit and after taking a 100 mile (1 tank of gas) rip on the Pani this AM, I was able to immediately compare the two beasts as I took off on 'Strada. The upright position was comfortable And the higher turn in lean angle took only a few turns to tell that I could really just drop it into the curves under power and it was geometrically perfect and handled superbly. Great pick up and brakes. It has the DES and DTC and ABS as well... The computer screen is not the same as the Pani, but the button functions and applications are identical and so the ability to switch riding modes on the fly is just as convenient as on the Pani. Adjustable windscreen is nice and a full 6 cm of movement can be had very easily. Pegs grip nice and the seat is tractor seat wide and quite comfy! Scorpion rubber is new to me and will have to take it in the rain and off road to see what the feedback from them will be...as for the roads, very grippy. First mod was to pull the rear hugger off...immediate visual gratification and the bike takes on a nice aggressive stance without it. 3 bolts and gone! Second mod is already ordered...full Termi system as the bike is as quiet as a sewing machine and I'd like to hear more of the 150 hp 1200cc grunt. from what I've been told, it is the only mod it needs...comes with a new ECU and is supposed to really let the inner animal out. Love the pearl-like finish of the arctic white paint. Was thinking to get red, but that is a lot of red to be hauling around. I decided that the red is best reserved for the SuperBike that is already in the garage. Was not sorry to see the R1 stay behind...someone is going to get a great bike buying that one...showroom mint condition, as all of my vehicles are kept in. Thanks again for the opinions and information you guys provided on my other thread. |

Hi RSR had my pikes peak for three days now done 180 miles and I'm more impressed every time I ride it. Slapped it in Sport tonight and took off on some local roads, was flying along, almost daft how quick and easy it is to drive. Options wise, took the carbon screen off, useless, took the standard screen off, wind either hit me in the head or neck, put the dark tint DP screen on today much better, I'm 6'2" so won't be an issue for most I guess. Tyres, thinking probably not going to see any off road action so looking for something a little gripper that does well in the rain, any recommends for a good fast sport tour tyre? Exhausts now that's trickier. I love the look of the short termi, not very keen on the large, dated looking termi full system can. Both mivv and Leo vince do a de cat pipe but I'm hearing all sorts about fuelling, noise etc. It's too quiet for sure but don't want it race loud either for touring just deep and a bit boomy. Looking into this tomorrow with BR exhausts over here in the Uk. Dealer says stay clear of the Mivv, but the Leo works perfectly, but very loud. Trying to find an inline DB killer. Then there is the flap issues, fuelling etc. Still fab bike though, very impressive. |

I have a friend with a Multi and he loves the Pilot Road 3, hes got over 4600 miles on them and they come in 190/55, so it does not interfere with the traction control. He commented that he never did feel comfortable with the stock pirellis. Last edited by LarryG; July 31st, 2012 at 04:40 AM. |
