I Ride: oh yes, I do!!!
traffic light stall in N @ 223°F

Guys. Stood at the lights this afternoon suddenly the motor went off. Was moving in slow traffic previously, then had to stop at the lights. Coolant temp was 217 while driving, by the time i got to stop and waited around a minute, it went up to 223. Suddenly it stalled. The fan has been running. Could start it with a few more cranks and slight twist of the throttle... had to keep it lil higher until i got to take off. Charcoal canister is off and rear pipe wrapped... strange, hm?

I wonder why Ducs are so tempermantal at high temps. My 848 would have trouble starting in high heat as well. It would lean stall every once in a blue moon because they said my fuel mixture was so lean to meet EPA requirements it would do that every once in a while. Maybe a combination of the fuel mixture and the heat? I haven't had the Panigale lean stall, but it did have a hard time starting a couple times in high heat.

My Harleys with after market carbs do that as well in extreme heat..it would appear in their case, that the idle speed is too low and the amount trickling into the intake actuall can start to evaporate at high temps, leading to a starvation stall.

Your symptoms sound similar. Maybe when we can get into the ECU, we can have the fans turn on earlier and increase the idle a little bit

Why ?
Because these bikes are made for racing on a track, not for waiting in high traffic

Phil, any hard starts in 90+ degree temps with the bike sitting for about an hour after a 12 mile ride. Test it to see if you get the same hard start condition. If so, there are 2 more thought processes:
1. New fuel map
2. Fuel Pump (fixed mine)

Good luck and keep us posted.

Same here....Dealer replaced the fuel pump 1000 miles ago, no more hard starts or stumbling at hi rpms.
