Rumors of another recall

So are the rumors true, there is to be another recall on the 1199? Something about the steering dampener. Anyone have any info on this?

Substantiated?

Oh geez. Please don't start any rumors.
Where and how did you come about this info sir? This is the first mention I have heard on this ANYWHERE and I am pretty plugged into the system from all angles on Ducati. It's like a pandemic when stuff like this is brought up. If I am wrong then I will not only eat my words, but also this Macbook!

My Ohlins dampener had the bearing come out at about 300 miles... was just hanging there. I am able to slide it off and on at will. Took it in and am still waiting for a replacement. In the meantime the dealer installed a large washer to stop it from falling off while riding. Has worked so far (have 3200 miles).

Spoke to the service rep and he said there was another one since mine... might be related to the recall.

I had my steering damper do the same thing as above (1199 S). They replaced it at my first service. No problems since.

who is coming up with this stuff?.....not good starting these threads without some sort of factual knowledge backing it up. If there have been recalls on the 1199 they must be outside the US or my bike is not affected because I have had my bike for 2 months and I have not received anything from Ducati relating to a recall.

Yeah, I have two of the largest Ducati dealers within a few miles from my house and both of them have the worst service department I have ever dealt with for anything. Neither one wants to submit paperwork for for warranty claims but both will happily take your money.

I have three nagging problems that I have yet to get fixed. At this rate I will have 20k miles on the bike before it happens.

For the curious:

1. Oil leak out of a random hole in the side of the case (left side)
2. Steering dampener broken
3. Termi exhaust leaking at the seam

Really frustrating when you pay so much for a bike.

Do I seem to be noticing a trend that owners with admitted poor dealer service seem to have more trouble with their bikes?

Now thats odd. Never thought of that idea! I have a great dealer who is a close personal friend, and not had ONE DAMN THING go wrong with my bike!

Perhaps we can start a poll of sorts to see what the numbers are?

I'm not going to say I have a poor dealer. Any problems I bring up they fix free of charge and hook me up with a full tank of gas since there an hour away from me. It seems to me like it's another problem that's arising just the like clutch problem that happened to a few of us. It's a new bike completely new design. I know that and I'm meticulous when I clean my bike and check for any problems. Gunny your lucky to have not had any problems. Not even hard starts?

I mentioned this in another thread, it's FACT!

1) 1199 all versions refit steering damper with correct torque

2) Plus S and Tri fit new parts to damper

Whoa! Which one? You can PM me if you want to keep it confidential. I just want to make sure it's the one I'm taking mine to. If it is, then I need to find a new place

There is a recall that involves a part number that is a kit and the dealer does all the bits at once

New washers on the steering damper and check torque setting on mount screw
New Mount/guide for the ex valve cable
NewBolts for the silencer mount
New nut for front brake reservoir
Check torque setting on swingarm spindle

The bulletin is number 863 and the kit part number is 69926601A

Hmm, I wonder if that will apply to my bike which was shipped 1 August. I guess I will just have to ask when I pick the bike up.

Thanks; interesting bit about the swingarm spindle. Was going over mine the other day and was amazed at how little torque those things had on them. Hand-snug was about it, which was similar to the six allens holding the forks in the bottom triple clamps on mine. That was a bit troubling, but it helps explain some of the parts falling off people have noted. Highly recommend going over your bikes to check all the bolts you can get to.

Looks like a simple case of either poor swaging or the interference fit is out of tolerance. I dare say the Ohlins rod end supplier was having a bad day.

Is this a true recall or just a parts bulletin? The two are not the same and mean very different things.
