Termignoni Slip-Ons and Mapping.

My shit is POPPING! More than normal, there is something wrong with this map IMHO. My exhaust is blackened by the hole. I am running 91 Octane here in CA, is this related to the Charcoal canister in any way? Any insight is helpful. Gonna get this thing mapped from Matt at Motowheels soon so hopefully this fixes it.

If it is popping on shifting or decel I wouldn't worry about it to much. I have the same issue with running rich and black exhuast... Every ducati I have had using the termi map/ecu has had that problem.

I ended up putting a power commander on my streetfighter which fixed the fueling but ran really rich at lower rpms to do so.

What really matters is how it feels while riding it.

The Ducati factory runs the bike too rich to keep the bike's hard engine parts safe. If it was too lean - the engine would ping/detonate and run too hot, boil the coolant, blow a head gasket and all other sorts of mayhem. Yes, the popping sound goes away when you remove the charcoal canister, or at least it did in my case and I have been tracking the 1199 in 90+ degrees with no issues on pump gas.

Weird, because the only time I get popping is at idle.

Ive got no popping on over-run or idle, just on gear shift under moderate to hard acceleration, and still relatively restrained then even though it's quite loud. If its popping anywhere else then it needs tuning IMHO.

I love the popping. I try to have it back fire on me, it turns me on.

All I get is a burble at idle and an occasional popping while shifting at low gears and high revs. This thing sounds great and the Termi's aren't even on yet.

I started to notice this when I upgraded to the slip on. I took the bike back to my dealer and had the bike re-maped 2 times and it still did it. (The up-maps are already in the bike from Ducati and the flash drive that you get with the better pipes is only the Key to open up the new up-maps). Most of my poping hapened when I used the clutch to up shift *hard to break old habits. When the Ducati Master Mechanic looked at it, he said it was fine and explained to me what was going on. The (DQS) Ducati Quick Shifter is always on, even if you use the clutch. If you read up on how the quick shifter works you will find that it uses engine rpm, bike speed and throttle position to cut out the engine to make the shift and blows the unspent fuel out the pipe. If you turn off the DQS and the poping goes away then it was just the DQS and timing burning off unspent fuel with a backfire. You will notice it much more if you bump up to the better slip-on or full system becuse the up-maps toss in more fuel meaning more unspent fuel and less packing in the pipe to sheld the sound. I hope this helps it sure sounds good to me now that I understand it's not hurting the valves. If this does not help then first check for any exhaust leaks and go from there.

Rade safe my brothers/sisters

Did you guys remove the flapper valve when installing your slip ons?

You only remove the flapper valve with the full system! The flapper will help with mid range power with the slip ons!

The flapper is disabled on the slips, the motor is removed.

I recommend removing your AIS to get rid of most of the popping. This is the main culprit.
Thanks from Brad and Gunny Fitz

Correct. Dealer installed my termi slips on Tri before taking delivery of it and , servo, and cable are cometely removed. Leaving this on will cause you nothing but issues.

As stated below. Valve remains in place but is not functional as it remains wide open .

Flapper stays on, but just open on the stock collector set.
