Well I rode it slow (running-in) and then I tried fast. Fast is better. Did a little blog on the subject: European Motorcycle Diaries: Living with the Ducati Panigale 1199 - What’s it for? |

I agree with your findings in regards to the need of a track to truly enjoy everything this bike has to offer and was built for. At the present time I'm enjoying as much of this bike as I can in the twisty mountain roads of TN and NC, @75% of its capacity until later this fall & winter when it will be spending more time at some of the local tracks thanks to our South FL weather.. |

I also enjoyed your story. I've been trying to figure out how to say most of the same things! |

I"m with you on the quickshifter merits. Just broke mine in and out riding the other day clicked up a gear at 9K revs and didnt even feel it. Nothing, nada,I had to check the gear selector to confirm cos I was keeping count in my head. Just so sweet. still getting used to the QS,my first experience with one and find my self still dabbing the clutch when changing. The bike is just growing better and better the more miles that pass. It"s weird its almost organic in nature, never felt anything like it before. Could the bike be adapting to the rider with all these electronics??? instead of the other way round.

+10 DQS is insane, never had it before. When you take her out, anyone who knows anything about bikes will surely stop for a look. AWSOME BIKE! |

Good read. Nice contrast, too--he's living with it and I'm living on it (and loving every god damned minute!). What's it for is whatever you want!

Same here, read your blog a couple of days ago and posted it to a couple of my Facebook groups. It was a great read...nice to hear something other than the recycled motorcycle mag's repetitive banter.

Thanks! Small world, indeed. I'm in Detroit now, heading off to Canada on Saturday. Cracked 6600 miles today while dodging potholes in some sketchy neighborhoods, but the Panigale just gets better and better. The lesson is--buy the bike you love and everything else will work out wonderfully (unless it's an Aprilia). ![]() Last edited by AntiHero; August 23rd, 2012 at 06:48 PM. |
