good to know that the 1199 can take a hit, i was afraid that without the frame, the bike with become too delicate.
im glad you are not hurt and back in business!

Look at all that loose stone and gravel from the new bitumen! Yuk. Amazingly little damage to the bike for the length of the scrape on the road.

Let your dealer check your bike !
I had the same with my 1098s, seemed like some scratches but there was a lot more going on -> result -> Panigale
And i rode my crashed 999s home (400 km) after the crash wich i tought was fine -> result TL -> 1098s
Most important is that you still walk around

Glad your okay. I agree with the above post. Let your dealer do a once over to insure nothing is truly messed up. I lowsided my 848 and had to touch up plastics and replace the front brake lever.

As others have posted..Glad that you where not hurt and can share what happened.
I also agree with having your dealer look at the bike in more detail, stay safe out there.

GRAVEL! I HATE GRAVEL! It appears that road repair in Saigon is done just like here in the U.S. With no consideration of motorcyclist. Never clearing the loose gravel after the road repair is done.

Wow... I'm shocked that is all that happened to your bike. My dealer told me they "crash very well" but didn't really believe him.. I guess he was right.

Glad your ok!

Im a bit confused; the gravel streak does not match the scratch pattern we view and you describe.

You went on a skid through the gravel and then got the scratches after leaving the road, correct? Otherwise, we would see multiple grooves / scrapes in the gravel from multiple contact points rather than just one which would appear to be from the ABS not being able to compensate for the loss of traction. Also, there would be more damage from that long of a slide.

Can you give us a more "play by play" description of your excursion?

I'm really surprised that it handled the crash. I had mine get knocked over by a car whilst parked, literally just tapped it and fell over. Cracked the clutch cover oil pouring out and the handle bar snapped clean off.

Good to hear your okay

I was in the turn around 80-90km/h, see the first pile of gravel so I thought "Oh shit" and tried to straighten the bike...it when through the first pile and the rear start waving and then it hit the second gravel area and I start losing the control of the rear so I gave up the ideal of saving the situation and must brake because it was still too fast...the white mark was my rear wheel being locking up... And it head strait to the left side of the road. I tried to direct the bike away but more gravel on the side so there was noway I could save the bike... I bailed out and very lucky, the bike hit a small pile of gravel the the worker left on the side and fell on it

I was amazed by how little damage to the bike. Took to the shop, stripped it down to check and to install the Pipe, re-paint the fairing, installed new Brembo Billet Mastercylinder for both clutch and brake, new air filter...every seem OK

I had the front and rear fork protection and it really help with the crash. Highly recomended
