Hi, I got the tankslapper 3M kit and some parts just don't fit like on the tail section. Has anyone else had problems with this?

I only got the tank protection kit but all pieces fit right, I did note, it's kind of tough to match placement when doing left and right side and center and top piece on the tank, ie getting equal spacing.

Yeah I got the entire kit, but i've only installed a few sections thus far, one being the tail section. For me it fits fine but you have to stretch it in a few places. Because most of the pieces are small, it's tough to get an anchor point but keep at it and take your time. Google a few install videos, that really help for me.

I got my film yesterday for the tank, the video's do help, but it does seem just as easy to screw up

can you keep trying if you dont do it right? or is it garbage after a few tries ?

tankslapper sells the pieces in both 3m and tankslapper film. THe tank slapper film is reusable and very easy to remove. The 3m once it cures, stiffens and is not reusable. That said, as long as you keep the 3m film wet you can pull it up and move it around to get it to work.

Having used a lot of 3m film on bikes over the years, I'll take the tankslapper stuff over it anytime. I just did the top of the tank with the tankslapper film, I find it easier to work with as well.

So on 3m film just keep it wet and play with it til your happy about placement.

I did get the 3M because it was on the tank itself and it seemed to offer more protection. there is someone that visits my dealer and does it, but he wants $100 just to put it on the tank

You can do it yourself. Just be patient and use the water baby shampoo mix the way they say. Keep it wet and you can move it all you want.

Just as an fyi, I spoke with the tankslapper buy in the past and you can get kits made up in either all 3m film or all tankslapper, or a combo of both.

No way I'd pay someone a $100 to do a bike, I had the film installed on my car and that's when you need a pro. as the areas and curves involved are large.

I'd recommend installing the small pieces first to build up your experience. Did you get a squeegee? I not you can use a credit card put put a little electrical tape on the edge as the edge of the card can scratch the film.

I felt the same with the $100.

no i didnt get the squeegee, i though maybe i could get a cheap one at the hardware store, but the credit card idea sounds like just the ticket

I didn't find it that dar to apply.... After you got your technique sorted.
But the rear left and right top and the long left and right front faring prices just were the wrong shape.

The front one just wouldn't line up because of where eh fut a hole far a screw.

Well, i fitted the tank slapper kit.Went on easy..no problems at all...first ride out in the rain ( which it does in scotland a lot) it started peeling off...by the time i got back to base the tank protector was a mess and was lifting in a few places...ripped it off in an angry moment, so to conclude, when fitted it went on easy and once dried it was nearly invisible...but go out and ride hard in the wet and it's utter crap...and slides around then lifts off.I left it for 3 days to cure/settle and it still came apart so for me it is a bad buy...i'm gonna try the 3M stuff next to see if that holds up to the Scottish weather better....
Unfortunately my climate is not as good as you guys from california and the like but we still like to get out there and burn that rubber!!!

Interesting as I had it on my rsv4 ridden in all kinds of weather with no issues of lifting.

Did you use the alcohol/water mix and sprayed the surface and film with it? The alcohol facilitates evaporation. Also, not sure if you're aware and too late now, but you can reapply the tankslapper film multiple times and it will continue to work.

That said, the 3m film will not life once it's installed it's permanent (until you pull it off).

Sorry you didn't have a good experience with it.
