Hi everybody, I just wanted some advice on how you might handle this situation. I won't get to technical in the details but the basic story is I bought a new 1199S in early May. I first experienced the hard start that many are familiar with during the break in period. It only happened once and I considered it a fluke and didn't bother to mention it to the dealer at the 600 mile oil change. It progressively got worse soon after the break in however and the bike went in the shop in mid June. After being thin the shop for about 30 days the dealership thought they had it fixed however only after in my possession for one day, the bike quit starting all together. The bike went back to the dealer the day after this experience ...back in July. As of September I haven't seen my new bike in over 6 weeks. It has been out of service for much longer than it has been in service (about 90 days) and the bike is evidently unfixable. Sadly, Ducati hasn't offered a solution to the problem.. whether it be a replacement bike or whatever. I sent them a certified letter in which they said they would have their lawyers see as to what they are legally responsible for under my state laws. Ducati said this could take some time to sort out. I have had to take legal action and file a complaint trough the Attorney State General demanding a refund. |

dunno it sounds like you've already handled it, not much else you can do but and let the lawyers make their $$$ and nothing will happen fast probably. Quote:

Probably need to check into your state's lemon laws. Three times with the same problem and you're probably eligible to sue for a full refund. There are probably time limits as well. Kinda sucks that you missed out on the whole summer.

Here in the UK you can reject a vehicle for upto 6 months if a reported fault is not fixed. You have to give the dealer a reasonable time to fix it but if they can't you just reject it and get a refund. After 6 months you normal have to get courts involved but it can still fall in your favour. A good friend had a problem with his Audi A4 convertible, it kept blowing the driver side dipped beam. After 12 visits to a dealer over a 2 year period he had to issue legal proceedings against Audi but it resulted in him getting a full refund on a 2 year old car with 28k on the clock. |

God that sucks. I would want a NEW 2013 and Cash for lost riding time/use of the bike this year.

The problem is intermitten.. The numbers on the starter look good. I know someone down in Austin TX had the fuel pump replaced and that seemed to take care of their hard start. But the numbers on my fuel pump look good too. I had not spoken with the Ducati dealer in over a month. I called yesterday to see if they have gained any ground on fixing the bike and get this....the mechanic said he is not at liberty to speak with me about my bike!! WTF!
