Ducati Panigale Heat Shield That Works

I Posted previously about how to make the Ducati Panigale more ridable thru my design in cutting down the heat for the rider, many had asked for photos which I do HERE THEY ARE. Temps on the wrapped horseshoe pipe are 4 to 600+ degrees here in AZ above my guard using a laser heat gun they show 81 thru 124 degrees a mass difference. Also call me if you want to ask how I did this. 520-885-5124

Do you still use the head defrector? How does the final product looks?

The original heat sheild bolted to the horseshoe pipe has been removed, it just made the heat worse.

By the way the final product looks like the photos except the sheild has been polished. It also brings the temp down on ther ohlins rear shock to around 81 degrees, prior to me building this sheild you could not touch the ohlins shock without burning yourself. This will certainly make the ohlins life span greater.

it might be a good solution, but we need to make it look pretty (no ofence intended). Perhaps if you clean the edges and ceramic coat it. Are you planning to build these? (no everyone have a laser cutter in their toolbox)

At this point pretty does not matter as the bike is now ridable, the underside towards the horseshoe exhaust is coated with zircotec 3 layer stick on ceramic sheet. Also under the seat has the same product. Due to what I have done also makes the hot start go away because the ECU is also been protected from the heat. Corners have also been stream linned and are not so square. The unit actually looks quite good. I plan on powder coating the top side in ducati red then it should look really nice.

If there was enough interest in these I may build them. Please feel free to call me if you wish regarding what the temp changes have done.

By the way the shield now has been cut along the black line making it more pleasant to the eye and more streamline

Hey Albert,

Looks like a very functional design. How are you mounting it? Is it mounting to the pipes or are you mounting to the bike?

I have it mounted on the bike to prevent heat transfer from the hot exhaust to the heat shield. Give me a call, or if you have a number I can call you to explain further.

Great idea. I might call you later or tomorrow to chat, but I am thinking to build your design (if it is ok with you) in carbon fiber for better isolation (with heat tile under)

I do believe that I am possibly the first person/rider/consumer to tackle this heat problem and so far its been successful in my trials and tests.

Hi, sorry and I don't mean to offend but it looks a mess!! The solution that I found is just to wear an undersuite under your leathers and no problem whatsoever even sitting in traffic on a hot day!! There are lots out there.

I just did a google search and here is the link:

There are some good ones out there and they keep you cool in summer warm in winter, always wear one!!

I see your point with an under suit, however here in Arizona where temps in the summer are 112 degrees it does not work plus with so much heat everything above the exhaust cooks which includes the electronics of the ECU and Ohlins shock. The bike at this point does not look messy or clumsy and this guard certainly does the job.

Interesting setup, where do you buy zircotec 3 layer sheet in the US? I just put a deposit on a 1199 and I am interested in removing the heat under the seat. Thanks.
