Aftermarket Carbon fiber heat shield?

I was browsing through ebay for carbon fiber goodies and found this carbon fiber heat shield for what looks to be the non- full termi exhausts.. anyone have prior purchasing experience with this company or their products?

Hello guinea pig here

Good points, it looks great compared to the metal 'thing'.
Heat is reduced a lot (frame still gets hot so I guess thats from the engine mounts and not the exhaust)

I bumbled along at 20mph for 3 miles (god that was tedious) and got the temp upto 97 deg C and was really impressed until I got home.

Getting off the bike it was now at 103c and Inspecting the cover I could see a bubble that I pushed back in with a cloth around my finger and its a little brown around the screw mounts. Really glad I stuck reflective material on the inside (it comes bare). So dunno how long it will last, its a shame if it doesnt as I found it really effective.

I'll see what its like with a proper ride tomorrow

Looks like a nice weave. Just hate the matte finish though.

No instructions, Undo the 3 screws holding it on
get a spanner 17mm between the bend/under the pipe and loosen the o2 sensor. then take the right fairing off follow the o2 sensor wire and unplug.
Undo and remove the sensor.
remove seat and remove the bracket the seat sits on and the petrol tank will now pivot.
undo the tail lower bolts that go into the engine and pivot the tail up to wiggle the exhaust guard out.

Reverse to resemble, and yes its a pain in the arse, really hope the carbon one lasts.

I ordered/recieved their CF key guard, matt finish looks fine on the outside, kind of rough on the inside.

DP carbon has always been pretty unfinished on the underside/inside of parts.

I saw this too:

CDT Elite Series Exhaust Protector (OEM) - OPPRACING Products

Seems to be better quality, might consider depending on Akra's offering...

Seems like anyone offering a warranty that it will withstand the heat would be the best to go with. Some CF can't withstand that kind of heat cycling.

I odered this 9/6, still waiting, Did receive their CF key and fairing ducts however. They are matt, and look as good as my DP shock protector.

I posted about 2 weeks ago when my RC product arrived and failed to survive the heat load on a 15mile trip. Basically If your metal shroud touches the exhaust due to weld issues on the stock exhaust bolting locations, the carbon will be ruined. You can try and wrap it but if you are already seeing damage at the point of contact the heat will bake and damage the CF resulting in bolt pull through and a useless part. I am ok with the metal until I buy the 2nd half of the full Termi.

Do not by aftermarket carbon fiber exhaust guards until you read this....

Let me know if the do ship to the UK, I'd be interested in a matt finish one if they stand up OK to the heat after a week or two of use.
