New Map for Termi

I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine that works for ducati and has a full termi system on his 1199. I asked him about the termi slips vs the full system. Here is what i was told. Ducati will be releasing a new map for the termi full system which will INCREASE the HP numbers. The name of the map is going to be called upmap 2 or stage 2 and all ducati dealers will have it and upload it for you if you have a full system. The map is not made for just slip ons. Then i asked him about the graphs with the full system and why the decrease in power. I was told that 2 things need to be turned off when doing a dyno. 1 the traction control and 2 the O2 sensor. Both of these drastically restrict the output on the dyno numbers. I dont know how true this is but he has no reason to lie to me. Now i am not really concerned with total numbers what i am concerned with with everything being equal is an increase over stock no matter what the numbers are if the numbers are low because of traction thats ok as long as they go UP when i add the system. The 3rd thing i was told is for a few bucks (ducati bucks so i assume a couple of hundred) they will ceramic coat the exhaust for you. not only does this reduce the heat but i was told that it keeps the pipe from expanding from the heat and change the shape of the cat giving a small boost over a non coated pipe. Finally i asked about the air filters. The 1199 already has a free flow air filter no need for a new one. Dont kill the messenger here just relaying what i was told

You can't disconnect the o2 sensor, you can disconnect the RSS (Rear Wheel Speed Sensor) for a correct dyno #. I highly doubt Ducati will ceramic coat anything because its a liability issue. The pipe expanding and catalyst comment you made sounds made-up by the Dealer or whomever your "source" is.

Thanks for your post Mark !

The new UPMAP and increase of HP numbers for a full Termi' system is legit, as previously mentioned the issue is how to get it out to the dealers (logistics).

Slight post edit : I note that Mark says "Ducati" not a dealer. I believe that Mark is telling the truth and his information is legit.

On the effect of ceramic coating the Term's cans .. well in a very short while I should be able to provide some more feedback.

Why would he lie to me. He gave me the price and can have them shipped ceramic coated. As far as o2 sensor your right its the speed sensor. i dont know why i typed o2 sensor but regardless my point is the new map will make more hp. Oh before i forget im not an PHD in physics but im pretty sure under intense heat steal expands. the termi system is made from stainless steal so it cant expand george? with that expansion you cant lose power?

IS that what you mean bro? Remember that 200 page thread one guy typed which was all in one paragraph? LOL. That is what you are speaking about I assume. I know how it is when doing it from a Smartphone though, you dont even think about it much less hit enter if Mark was doing it from his cell.

Mark is a sharp dude who I know personally and wouldn't think he would do this intentionally.

Having had my 70mm headers Coated I can say that it does make a difference in the radiated heat.
Yesterday was a hot spring day here, hot enough that I was dodging big goannas and snakes on the way home and I was finally in some traffic to test the bike, plus I was in jeans and the heat was fine with the engine temps at 104c.

My dyno results show a increase of nearly 7Hp at the top end and 12hp at the bottom between the standard system and full Termi one, but it still has a little fueling issue, which if what your dealer says is correct then that should be cleaned up and you will see a bigger increase in HP, with the fuelling issue gone.

Logistics involved to get out to the dealers the new UPMAP ??? It would be as simple as downloading a file from the internet !!! If the UPMAP has not been made available to the dealers, the reason must be it is not ready yet IMHO

Dude, if your DUCATI SOURCE staff source is knowledgeable enough it would be clear to him that there would be no logistics involved in getting the new map to the dealers !!! That argument just sounds liks BS

Ok, It is not an argument it is a statement. My fact is that the an executive from Ducati told me in person to my face about a new UPMAP several months ago and stated "we are unsure about how we get this to market" of which I asked why "logistics". The same executive also furnished me with his card. I live about 10 mins away from Ducati North America HQ. I imagine that this Ducati executive has a pretty good idea on how the internals of his firms works.

Oh, just in case you believe that I am BS'ing then consider two other facts, one why would I BS ? and two .. have an look at the upload of the executives business card.

The truth of anything is more often than not found in the result.

Failing any reasonable justification, such as your a top Ducati internal engineer with detailed knowledge of how Ducati internally work or why you think this is all BS than I can only conclude that your one of those contentless, useless wanker trolls who *TRY* and make people like me (with content) not even want to post to this forum.

Struth guys I didn't even realise there was some kind of issue going on here, where's the love?

Great news re up map is long time coming, I've got full system and wouldn't change it for anything, it sounds better looks better. Now it's time to porform better, at least Ducati are dealing with the issue... It's actually quite nice to get nice surprises from Ducati every now and again... Especially as Christmas is on its way..

All the Faff about the BHP etc... Yea I know we pay £2500 for the system etc and should be getting better results... But let's face it there are only a few people around, that would be able to utilise the small difference anyway..

All good news tho..
