DP Alarm - Don't Bother

A heads up to anyone considering the DP Alarm - I honestly wouldn't bother!

My alarm packed up after about a month, it interfered with the electronics of the bike, including the rider aids (DTC/EBC/DQS etc). When it was 'working' it was pretty useless, you could wheel the bike off without tripping the alarm regardless of the sensitivity setting.

I was going to get it replaced until I found out there is approximately a 2 month wait for another unit to become available and my friends alarm has just packed up as well.

Have opted for a tracker with Datatool and will leave an alarmed disc lock on the bike when leaving it in public. It'll do the same job for a tenth of the price and it'll stop someone wheeling it off.
Thanks from Texas Duc

I believe scorpion makes the best alarm for our bike and has abbuilt in GPS that can show exactly where the bike is, how lady it's going and where the police can locate it. I don't have one but my friend and dealer speak very high of it.

Mine works great! Only had it for a few weeks but so far not a problem. I try to test it a few times and it works as it should

Yep, it's marketed as Datatool TrakKING, but I think it's Scorpion that do the monitoring. My dealer speaks pretty highly of it too and i'm impressed so far. Nice to be able to look up the bikes location, also get a text the moment it's moved without the ignition on.

Mine works with perfection so far. I have caught the bike a couple of times squeezing past it and this has triggered the movement sensor. I have also forgotten to turn it off when I have topped up with fuel after paying and it has activated the alarm.

I've had no problems at all, I wouldn't say a product is bad because someone had a problem.

What I will say which is strange, after a36 hours of being active I can't turn the alarm off unless I put the key in the ignition. This is whilst constantly being hooked up to a trickle charger!
Bike Trac works a dream and great to see your speeds whilst out and your route with accurate mileage too. Downside it is not compatible with Apple systems.

Ordinarily I would agree with you, however having the DTC kick in unexpectedly whilst overtaking was not a pleasant experience! The alarm is designed to work utilising the bikes existing wiring, hence if you do have a problem with it other systems on the bike are affected, for me the DTC, DQS and EBC, fortunately I didn't have any ABS problems.

As I said I'm aware of 2 units that have now failed, when fitted I couldn't get a decent level of sensitivity out of it. Just my opinion but I don't think it was worth it, that it can ruin your day by screwing with the rider aids at the wrong moment is a definite no for me.

I was told that remote disarming is inhibited after a while to prevent drain on the smaller battery. I looked at BikeTrac but didn't like details of my ride being recorded. If you were involved in a RTA with a fatality I think the police would be interested in getting hold of the data.

I just had my Panigale alarm installed and the dashboard LED light does not blink anymore. Does anyone else's still blink when the alarm is enabled?
