I can't see if from the pic, assuming it's the bellows portion? It's a good idea to use silicone spray or armor all from time to time as UV will reallly take it's toll on rubber(it's not really rubber, probably a synthetic) in that location.

Been using ti for years and the rubber seals, etc look new on all my bikes.

It's all the little cracks, I'm not touching it because you can see them split and I didn't want to cause more damage for the photo. They are most noticeable on the stem on top in this picture. Well it might be too late to save it, but just get some silicon spray from autozone or whatnot?

Just a little frustrated with all the little lapses in attention to detail in regards to selection of materials. Otherwise I am still very happy and over 6000 miles and counting since May.

Went out and grabbed some Turtle Wax F21 or w/e UVA/UVB protector for $4. Thanks for the suggestion, just surprised how fast it happened!

So, does this mean so far I'm an outlyer? Probably is a combo of the thin air and sun (being at this altitude).

You guys are cute, lol. I got the 1199 over other bikes because BECAUSE of the ohlins and little nifty bits. Anyway, dealer is working it, warranty item etc... So I guess I'm the only one so far lol.

Me too unfortunately, but not as bad as yours. I'm having a run of issues with my 1199 at the moment Dealer thinks the WHOLE loom has to be replaced to fix the perished boots! I don't think its UV as mine spends most of its time, when I'm not out enjoying it, in a dark garage.

I am NOT surprised about this rot. and thought about it when i first saw the design.

DO NOT USE ARMOR-ALL! It is junk!

USE 303-Aerospace Protectant!

303® Aerospace Protectant 32oz
