I have buddies in South Africa and the paid 45K for the Tri-colore so be lucky we get these prices.
I have the S/ABS and didn't want the Tri-colore. It wasn't a research issue.

Its a nice cover but the price? LOL. I have no mirrors or a rear fender, wouldn't have a problem fitting it .

Same here. It was a $4K difference (plus another $400/taxes)

I'll get the slip-ons, but for around $1500. That leaves me about $3K to spend on other goodies. Didn't want the data/gps either because I'm not an AMA pro racer and the data would just reaffirm the fact I'm the slowest guy on the track with probably the fastest bike

Spent the $3K on fender eliminator, seat, rear sets, tank/grip pads, mirrors, more tires, riding gear, etc.

I love my S ABS

But to chime in on the cover, I would say to each his own. It's definitely the BEST looking and probably most well-made cover you could get for the 1199. And if lots of people are buying it, obviously the market supports the asking price. I personally think it looks sick.

I had a spare BILT cover from a previous bike, and it fits well. I also park in a public shared garage and wanted to disguise the fact I had a $30K bike sitting there. When I have my own garage, I'll probably spring for the cover. By then, I should be done buying parts for the bike and will have some cash to spare.

Nice cover but $355 is a bit much. I hated paying $80 for the dp one, so had them throw in with deal.

Hahaha... same could be said about Base vs S.

I'm guessing that those that chose the S over Tri, perhaps prefer a simple plain ole Red Duc instead of the fancy Tri paint scheme.

Down Under, the difference between an S/abs and Tri (colours aside) is about 7K and the only real extras you get is DDA + Termi Slip-ons and the badge.

For some the DDA + Slip-ons is important for others not so.. But for me, I just wanted a red duc + Ohlins. everything else is a bonus.

I went with a cheapie cover cos I wanted to go stealth whilst not riding her, and it works well enough keeping dust off.

another Ducati cover

I thought about the best cover for awhile but I just couldn't pull the trigger for that price. Instead went with another pretty good cover if all you are looking for is a decent light dust cover to fit the stock 1199:

Not a tight fit; doesn't need to be tightly stretched:

Comes with a bag:

OEM, $90 but you can probably pick one up for around $65:

@kensteele - thats a perfect illustration.

Standard Cover is just that, while the Pani is proper special.

Undeniably, both are still covers though

It's a ducati item; use the stock number on the [authentic] tag pictured above; obtain from any one of your favourite ducati parts and accessories vendor.

Guys buying $355 covers keeps the business model at Ducati working well for the rest of us who just buy the bikes.
