After some small talk he said "Ducati was working on a fix for the heat issue for existing and new bikes" and that he was hopping to have the fix before the end of the year. The fix supposedly includes a larger heat shield with heat reflecting material and a cover for the rear cylinder head that will also be lined with this reflective material. He didn't say whether this would be a recall/no charge item to existing owners or a paid option. So it's safe to assume the 2013.5 and 2014 models should have fewer heat related issues?"
I also heard this from the dealer, i started to ask about cermaiinic coating the pipes, and he said to wait off before the year is over Ducati is trying to come up with different solution to "fix" that problem.

This is exciting if it is true, i ride to work sometimes and the heat while splitting lanes on the freeway in the afternoon has been unbearable for real some times. It is much better in the mornings.

If they fix that and the fact that i cant see my oil level, it will be the best machine ever. In my opinion

"Fix" is a relative word as there's no true way to "Fix" the problem on the existing bike. However, there are things they can do to reduce the amount of heat felt by the rider. Regardless, it's nice to see a manufactured accept feedback and do something with it. Riders have been complaining about frame heat on the R1 for years and to my knowledge it's still a problem It's nice that Ducati is at least trying to resolve the issue.

Makes you wonder how bayliss missed this in the first place? Maybe he has some pretty thick skin lol

you are correct, I will choose my words more wisely, you can not "fix" a problem like this, only diminish the amount of pain it causes somewhat.

but i do want them to FIX my fairing so i can see the oil level

I think most of the fully faired liter bikes have heat issues. My RSV4 was certainly as hot on the right side as my pani is.

FOr that matter, the 996 I had in 1999 blistered my right leg from the heat, remember the pipe runs right alongside your right lower leg up to the undertail exhaust.
