Hi guys, having gone through my second tire now, with the arrival of the new set yesterday, i realized, the new tires don't have the writing on the outer side of the tread. Is there any know technical difference in the tires (carcass stiffness, circumference), what does the DTC say to that ? example "regular": Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP Tires - Front / Rear Set - Derived from racing effective on the road and suitable for use on the racetrack - 2WheelPros.com vs. OEM: Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V2 Hypersport OEM Replacement Rear Tire for Panigale 12 - Hypersport Tires - Tires - Tires & Tubes - SoloMotoParts.com - Motorcycle Parts, Accessories and Gear Thanks! |

I asked the same thing when I had to replace my tires. When I talked to a Pirelli tech he said that the SP2( what he called it) was made specifically for the panigale with different compounds and a slightly different tread design. The two big differences I noticed with obviously the writing on the sidewall and the treads. When I asked if I would notice a difference he said no and that it was a slight difference...... Take that for what it is

My friend got Super Corsas for his ZX10R in 190 and the first thing I noticed was that the logos were on the sidewall as opposed to the tread.

Had a nail in the 1st @ 250 miles... so this one lasted 3800 miles of those were 1100 up to indy and back and one 3 session trackday... so not too bad for supersports tires.

Here's my new SP (SP1, OEM SP on previous superbikes) from Revzilla. 378290_10151073890028898_2126178828_n.jpg Decided to go with these instead of the 1199 oem SP for now because I was told that Just like the Diavel, Pirelli made the "SP2" specific for the Pani. According to my dealer you can only get the "SP2" at Ducati dealers for the first year. The compound is identical except that the new SPs ("SP2") center is even harder than the original SP for more tire life. Also the signature lettering on the sides...thats it. I am content with wearing the Original SP for now until the new ones become more available and more competetively priced ;-). |

odd when you think about it, I don't think any other bike runs a 200/55 rear. I know the aprilia rsv4 factory runs a 200/50

I am on my third set of V2's in 5500 miles. I might try a 190/60 Q2 next go-round. | |

FWIW, V2's are dual compound on the rear vs single for the V1. Pirelli say the changes are... • Single Groove Technology improves wear regularity • Bi-Compound rear tire with slick shoulder for racing like performance • WSBK derived materials and structure for increased agility and intuitive handling • Innovative and exclusive Pirelli patented high modulus carcass Lyocel fiber http://www.getpirelli.com/king_carlo...A_DOWNLOAD.pdf My guess is for street use the V2's might hold up a bit longer with the dual compound rear, but that's just a guess. I'm going to spoon on a set of Bridgestone S20's with a 190/55 rear to try as my OEM Pirellis are done at about 2700 miles. Front's got a bit of life left, but the rear's toast. I did the EZ break in, so for me, I'm thinking normal life for a rear SP should be 2000-2300 miles. YMMV, of course. I'll likely have to turn the TC off for the S20's, though per the specs the 190/55 S20 is only 7mm smaller in diameter (or 3.5mm in ride height) than the 200/55 SP. It'll be easy to sort out the F/R height, the speedo/odo reading will only go up 1% (less than 30 miles over the tire life) and I turn the TC off half the time anyway. Been wanting to sample some S20's as I've gone through a bunch of Q2s the last couple of seasons. Should be a good street tire for the Fall and off-season at least, then we'll see what's around come Spring. Expecting some new 200/55 choices by then, if not some 190/60's, and hopefully someone will have figured out how to get adjustable TC working. It's just dumb to have TC that only works for one tire, or at least a red flag regarding limited development resources. Not dissing the Pirelli's at all as I like 'em a lot, just think for the season something more amenable to cool temps and damp roads might be in order and the S20's look the part. We'll see! I really like the Supercorsa SP and keep putting them back on, but you really do have to watch it in the cold/wet. Even my 130hp Daytona will easily spin-up the rear on a wet but grippy road when its cold, but then this is what wet mode is for. Anyone else notice that wet map on the Panigale seems to knock the power down much more then other bikes? I put mine in wet when riding down to Val de Vienne in a group and then forgot about it. When it dried up, everyone else took off and I had trouble keeping up, I thought there was something wrong with the bike until I remembered I still had it in wet. Will chime in on the S20's for sure once I've had a go on 'em. They do have good buzz; Dave Moss' review was what really got me interested in trying some. Said he'd take 'em over the BT003RS or BT016 Pro in a heartbeat, and that's for track use on an R1 - no small praise. Q2's have kind of been the no-brainer go-to tire for me for a while but I'd really like a bit more feedback, especially at the front, plus they don't like being cold much. Back to the Supercorsa as this is a Supercorsa thread, I don't know if the profile differs from V1 to V2 but the 200/55 is definitely steeper on the sides than what I've seen on any of my other tires. I have a 675 Daytona and an RC51 in the garage with the Pani. Both have fresh Q2's on them (180/55 & 190/55 respectively), and the 200/55 Supercorsa looked more like a 190/60 sitting next to the 55-series Q2's than just a bigger tire with the same profile. Mine wore quite evenly, which I attribute to the dual compound. Did wear it all the way to the edge, but didn't quite finish grinding off the lettering at the very edge. Not surprising in street use, since you just won't spend a ton of time at full lean in that environment. I was not previously a Pirelli fan to be honest, but I do like these SP's. They have good feel and a lot of grip for a street tire, and seem to wear about as long and a bit more evenly than a Q2 for me. Ran them mostly at 32F/34R for general riding, maybe down to 31/32 if I was going out for a short play. Higher than track pressures, but of course you don't put as much heat in 'em on the street so they need to start higher. Last edited by Steve B; September 29th, 2012 at 04:52 PM. |

5000 km on the original SP rear , but to be fair not much left of it by then.
