Here's my thought process:

I want to retain the electronic shocks - I like the concept and it suits me. It may also be beneficial if taking the missus as pillion. The photos of the R seem to have no electronic shock control. No probs for racing but that's not what I'll be doing.

I like the colors of the tri. Purchase is an emotional thing (it's a Ducati remember). I like the R colors in the photo, but not as much - guess I could wrap it to look like a Tri if I got really precious.

I want to be able to take the missus for a ride - it is likely to be rare (from what she's said so far) but much better I have the option. If the R was a monoposto then I could always buy the tri pillion seat and pegs as a standby (along with the tri color match wrap for rest of bike)

If the new model was more SP than R it is likely to have electronic shocks (maybe?) and maybe pillion ability.

The tri is likely to end its run about the time funds come through. This is not critical but gets thrown into the equation.

This is likely to be my duc sports bike to see me out, so don't mind spending extra (that's if the funds do come through ) if its "special" ... Yes I know I won't be able to ride the tri to its limits let alone the SP/R (I'm a realist) but that doesn't stop each being highly desirable
