Just noticed this hook like thing hanging off the rear set assembly behind the fairing - just hanging there! Anyone know what it is and should it be hanging there??? ![]() ![]() |

That is part of your exhaust spring that has broken. I have broke mine 3 times. The fix so far was to put a larger spring on it. I posted this on another form and had a few others with the same problem. When mine broke half of the spring hung down and scratched the slip-on Ducati has replaced my slip-on twice do to this. I'm still not sure of the cause my best guess is the spring can't take the heat I'm on my forth spring.

That is part of a spring that does not attach at that point. I doubt that it just happened to have broken and found its way to that location but evaluate your bike against the attached document (#23 4x & #43 2x) and ensure that all of your springs are intact. I see that the most logical spring to be associated with that location is still attached based upon your pictures.

Thank you all, very useful. It appears that someone's just hooked it in there! Will check out the other springs later to what is still there. Weird and possibly another example of the love and care that my dealer has put into the bike |

Mine went missing, too. Replaced 1000 miles ago and is still there.

You may be the victim of a disgruntled service tech. My uncle was one for Yamaha and when certain "vocal" customers were never satisfied; he would place washers and such in obvious yet obscure wrong places to piss people off. Yeah...Uncle Joe didn't last too long there...did the same thing to home owners when doing custom kitchens...would leave the leveling tool for Sub Zero fridges sticking out of the cooling grill and tell the nit picking home owner (wife) that it had to stay there for initial function for at least a month!!! It was his signature move. even asked them to spin the "tool" once a day for 30 days as part of the warranty!! Yeah...uncle Joe ultimately did a few stretches for lack of respect for authority. So see if you can remember pissing your tech off....most likely iatrogenic activity. |
