Carbon Fibre Parts - CDT

Just wondering whether anyone has purchased CF parts from CDT (Carbon Design Team)?

How is the quality & build of the parts were. I am looking at buying the front fender, rear hugger, shock cover & heel guards.

Any info/opinions would be great. Thanks.

The prices in the US are higher than the UK. They will also ship it to Spain for free & without VAT (sales tax). Plus I prefer the matte finish as opposed to the gloss of Carbonvani.

Prices below are GBP so US price would be approximately 1.5 that.

Front Fender - £155.98
Rear Hugger - £144.98
Heel Guards Special - £69.98
Rear Shock Guard - £74.98

I purchased 4 "Glossy" Carbon parts from "Bestem USA" and have been very please with the pricing and quality. No, I don't work for them. The prices are the best and they are shipping from Georgia. Their list of available Carbon parts keep growing for the 1199. I'm going to buy more.

Thumbs up CDT Came in #1 in My Investigation

Putting together my list and deal on all CDT Carbon IN GLOSSY finish right now as a metter of fact. Just ran across this thread while doing some last minute homework!

IMHO of doing countless hours of research, CDT has the best fitment and rep out of everyone else I checked with. Carbonvanni fitment often needs a bit of dremel work and such to mount up spot on. After this I will be entirely complete with the Tri build !!

Anyone seeking a great source (not least expensive source though) feel free to PM me for a POC. Nothing better than dealing with a VERY reputable and reknown organization when it comes to parts for your high end machine!

Sorry to jump in, but I bought some stuff for my SF from Tekarbon and it seemed to be good quality and installed with minimal fuss. I think I had to widen one hole slightly and that was it.
Thanks from Stw

Just some dude selling carbon fiber I think - TEKARBON :: Carbon Fiber Bikes Parts Superstore

I was looking for a front fender for my SF and googled him and he got pretty good reviews over on a couple of the other forums (I think one of the R1 forums and a CBR forum) so I bought a fender. It worked out fine for me. That being said, I don't know if he does the satin/matte look carbon that matches what is on the pani. The stuff I bought from him was gloss.

Edit - here's his Pani page - http://www.tekarbon.com/store/ducati...e-c-29_79.html . It looks gloss to me so I wouldn't want to mix and match the two finishes personally, but if you wanted an all gloss look he might be worth taking a look at.

Cdt

Cdt is by far the best quality carbon fibre , it is proper stuff , autoclaved . The fit of the race body kit is the best I've ever fitted ( this includes ducati corse stuff by ms production or cm composites ) . If you research cdt on YouTube you'll get it. It is also mega strong stuff as I found out during a little incident at Motoland Aragon .....

Putting together a shopping list as I speak. Going to go with the CDT [all gloss finish] as we speak as this appears to be the best quality. I just can't think why I would pay for CF them have to drill & dremel the parts. The extra cost is worth it.
Thanks from Gunny Fitz

CF is CF. It is just bling, you don't expect it to "do" anything but sit there and look, well, like CF. If you can get it for a better price, and you like the look, it is working fine. I have a mix of DP, Lighttech, and at least 2 others. And you seriously cannot tell the difference - at least on my selection. The only question IMO, is gloss or flat - I went flat. Todate:

Tank guard (DP), shock guard (DP), heal guards (Lightect), Clutch cover (DP), air ducts (?), key hugger (RC), exhaust sheild (RC), brake line (Shift-tech), chain guard (RC)
Thanks from Gunny Fitz and Bungle

I was just sitting here thinking I shouldn't have posted in this thread. I think the main issue is that there is a vast difference in what people consider acceptable carbon. I am like you, Trauma, in that if it looks like carbon fiber and fits on the bike without me doing a whole lot of fiddling around with it then I consider it good. I don't care if it has been autoclaved (I think this may not be as critical as some do) or done in a "seal a meal" bag, as long as it fits and looks ok I am good with it. I think some folks, especially those replacing entire body panels have a much higher expectation as far as finish, durability and fitment than I do. I think that's where the whole "good carbon/bad carbon" discussion goes out the window. It's kind of like discussing jackets with Valentino Rossi and the homeless guy near my office. Rossi would prob go on for hours about technical features of the jacket and why one is better than another, but the homeless guy just wants a jacket since it is cold and rainy out. I'm the carbon fiber homeless guy.

However, I am sure you all agree that there is some REALLY nasty, cloudy, flimsy, and horrible looking carbon out there which we have seen on peoples bikes. No?
To me quality of "the look" means more than the price, or I'd take a crack at doing it myself in the garage-or try the cheap route of applying the carbon film / adhesive. To each their own like everthing else on our bikes. Matte or Satin or Gloss its all CF.

I think we can all agree that horrible carbon fiber is unacceptable. I only buy a few pieces (never body panels) so I don't run into too many fitting issues with things like fenders, exhaust covers, rear sets, etc. since they don't really mate with another stock or CF panel. It would drive me crazy if I were trying to replace every panel with CF and they didn't fit right or left gaps between the CF part and the stock part. Whew, thank goodness I only like a small amount of CF.
