I Ride: "Lamborghini, Pani...your chick she's so thirsty"
Shut off

I was riding the other day and I was going about 35-40 mph and down shifted and the bike cut off and had to re-start. Plus that weird air sound I still have at start-up. Has anyone had this happen?

Yup. A few times. Pull the clutch in and the revs just drop to nothing.

Air sound no, but mine cut out on me twice one day clutching into a stop at a red light in 2nd. Two times about 5 mins apart. Hasnt done it since...except that 3rd time when I was sitting at a light and gave the bike a baby rev and BLUH it shut off lol. My friend on his gixxer looked over at me and I shrugged and yelled thru the helmet DUCATI PROBLEMS!

But it hasn't happened since.

I sometimes get a low idle/throttle response issue. I noticed that it happens when I pull the bike out of my garage and release the clutch while I'm moving it. I cut it off then turn it on and it's gone...

seems like an electrical problem, clutch sensor maybe? hard to replicate the problem, dealer will probably just ignore it, chalk it off to "DUCATI PROBLEMS"

Happened 3 days ago

I had this happen to me for the first time on Friday.. I was driving towards a stop sign down shifting from 2nd to 1st... Bike just shut down... I pulled clutch in and attempted to release to restart.... No success.. Pulled over, switched off, and restarted.. It did start right away but I took it back home so I was not left along side road.. I put approx another 50 miles on it since then with no issue. The dealership could not provide a explanation..

That's what happen to me the first time, but the second time I was able to start it with out switching the bike to the off position. Weird.

Happened to me twice while rolling out of the garage after a few minute warm up and once at a traffic signal coming to a stop. All incidents while the clutch is pulled in. Once I had to do the ignition cycle off & on as it would not start even after a few cranks. The revs drop in an annoying way when the clutch is pulled in while coming to a stop. It feels like it about to stall.

happened twice to me, i believe there was another thread with this topic earlier.

of course this is a safety issue, if i had been making a left turn across traffic instead of a right turn into the parking lot, i could have easily stalled in the lane of oncoming traffic since i was rolling when it happened.

pretty sure we'll see another recall item for this issue.

+1

Has only happened once though, just after I'd taken delivery during the first 20kms.

8900 miles and it's happened 3 or 4 times in different weather conditions, but always at lower speeds (under 50) and if I recall correctly always just after pulling the clutch in.

Once for me too. Early on during break-in. Same thing coming to a slow turn at a stop sign. Never again in 1600 mi.

I've had this issue 3 times. All have been at very low speeds or at a light and all during hot days with the engine temp above 200 deg. Just hit the break-in service window so we'll see what the dealer says.

It has (so far - 1200 miles) happened twice to me, both times at the same junction! Once on my way back from the first service and the second time two weeks later on the way back from the suspension set up.

It happened whilst slowing down to a stop at a roundabout.

happened once while bike was stood still on tickover while I was locking the garage (roughly 150 miles on clock)and second time going from second to first at the end of a 120 mile ride. it really didn't want to restart either. thought I was going to be pushing it home !!
