Part of the second recall includes checking the swing arm pivot bolts. As it was explained to me this past weekend, having just had my bike serviced for the second recall, the mechanic is too back the pivot bolt out 180 degrees then retighten the pivot bolt and the pinch bolt to a new torque setting. He then marked both sides with a small red paint mark (one on the bolt and one of the mounting plate) and recommended checking the alignment marks before each ride. Mine had loosed up about 1-2 turns and I never noticed it. I would strongly suggest that ANYONE who has yet to have their bike in for the recall check the swingarm pivot bolts. The shoulder of the bolt itself should be offset within the mounting plate about 1 mm or so. If it is flush or sticking out from the plate then it has backed out and is loose and you need to get your bike to the dealer for service ASAP. Last edited by efna; October 16th, 2012 at 09:51 PM. |

Bought the bike new in Northern Ireland. I was riding the bike to London when this happened!! Bike in Coventry being fixed, as they were closest dealer when this happened.

I got the bike in June- which at that time had no recalls. Got all the crap in the post relating to ducati assist etc, even got several ducati emails...but never received any communication about the recall from the original selling dealer or ducati!

I never got a letter about the first recall. I eventually did for the second recall. Seems sort of inconsistent.

I've not had either of the recall letters or the Ducati Assistance pack and I bought my bike new back in April. I complained about this to Ducati customer service in the UK because I rode the bike on track at Silverstone without being aware of the second recall and they promised I'd get my assistance pack and future recall letters, but that was back in August and still nothing. Really poor if you ask me. I'm going to check the VOSA website from time to time as Ducati aren't trustworth with the recall letters. The VOSA site list two recalls, but neither of them is the latest one and there seems to have been a third recall affecting a number of Ducati models, including the Panigale, for faulty rear brake pads where the friction material comes away from the backing plate. Ducati assured my my bike wasn't subject to this recall, but the end serial number listed by VOSA looks like its too long and not valid. Last edited by PaddockStand; October 11th, 2012 at 11:14 AM. |

Quick Update: Rang Ducati UK customer services today. The recp lady said that the person who deals with customer care is out, and will ring me back. Im thinking- is there only one person that deals with customer related issues for all ducati uk customers...apparently true! Still waiting on them to return my call.. Recp lady said- why are you ringing customer services!? I said- because my 1199 swingarm nearly fell out of my bike last week... Will update, if they can be bothered to ring me. |

This is insane. I got a call for this recall two days before a track day and asked the tech if they thought it was crucial enough for me to take the time and bring the bike right away so it could be done before. She said that by looking at the work and parts required she didn't think it was and that I could bring it afterwards. WTF ?!!! |

Glad to hear your OK. Nice to see Ducati are consistent with their crap service and notification. What happened to pre-check before pickup? The bike has been out for a while now and their still appears to be a number of issues with the Panigale. Granted it a beautiful bike, not much use if the bike fails and kills someone! At what point is Ducati- Italy going to do something serious to adddress the issues? Or will they wait until they have their money from all the bikes being sold, then release an updated model? Was going to buy one, but have gone to the dark side and am going to purchase an S1KRR HP4. |

Ok Guys - need some help here! Has anyone in the UK got a copy of the recall letter for the checking of the swingarm bolt? Need a copy asap! Please blank out name/address/bike details etc - and post scanned copy on here please. Phoned Ducati Uk, two weeks ago, they took my details...and no reply as yet- shockingly lack of service from the importer!! Getting very frustrated here, with sh*t Ducati customer service experience here. Last edited by Perc; October 20th, 2012 at 05:42 AM. Reason: typo |

No problems with mine. I have had good service and no issues. Been fuss free. My dealer put paint marks on certain bolts so you can detect movement. Enjoy your beemer. I test rode one and its nice but no soul. suppose you will be moving to that forum then instead of bagging the duke here Last edited by bradp51; October 20th, 2012 at 03:13 AM. | |
