About 400/ side... but if you do buy one, get the newer one with the oil viewer cut-out.

a more concerning matter, while we were looking at the fairing a drop of "black fluid" dropped from the bike(right under the radiator) and we looked at each other and said... check for oil leaks too.... (he did say could be from the oil filter, as it happens to 690?)

I think you have a bad weld there and that is causing your issue. mine does not look like that.

std system on mine too.

I was in there today getting the new reflash as well. I hope you did not have to go West on the M4. I did it was a nightmare cutting thru that gridlock.

Sorry to hear about your new fairing

Having just ceramic coated the standard exhaust system, and reinstalled the pipes myself, I noticed the 'far too close' spring making contact with the fairing.

Then I installed a piece of heat shield to the fairing and that has done the trick and prevented any melting. Mind you, the exhaust IS running cooler and may not generate enough heat to melt the plastic. (Just finished riding 1600 kms of twisty roads!)

I believe that one of the recalls was to fit a rubber spacer to stop this happening.

That did not happen to my bike and so I have had a replacement fairing due to the spring making contact with the fairing too.

I have now fitted a small cut of bicycle brake block between the spring and the new fairing. It stopped further melting on the old fairing so will see if it works on the new one too.

Noticed my right lower fairing was melting at the back bend of the exaust pipe. I have the Termi full exhaust and was told that the pipe was too wide for the space. Took it back to the dealer and they ordered a new fairing under warranty, no problem. The melting got worse as I was waiting for the part and it actually melted a hole straight through. The new fairing came in and was installed. I asked the guy putting it on if he was putting the new spacer on. He said he didn't know anything about it. I told him I read that a new spacer had to be used on the forums I read. He said you can't believe what you hear on those forums. Long story short...I rode home with the new fairing and looked at the spot and what would you know...a brand new bubble where the pipe was touching and melting the new fairing! Called the dealership back and explained what happened. They were pissed and told me to bring it back. Another guy installed a makeshift spacer. Said it needed at least 8mm for airflow. Another fairing is being ordered. I guess there are those on these forums that know a thing or two about what they are talking about. Made me look smart for once.

I checked mine and it looks good. Lots of clearance at least for now but I'll keep an eye on mine to see if it becomes an issue when I have a few more miles.
Thanks for the heads up.

I'm installing my headers on Saturday. I have adhesive fiberglass backed heat shielding to apply to the fairing.
