I wonder with ABS turned on, when using the frontbrake, will the system also brake on the rearwheel ?
Or will ABS only work on the rear when rearbrake-pedal is used (wich i only use in critical situations )
Someone can clarify this for me ?

It does in Sport and Wet, Race is front only. It is not C-ABS, each control controls only its respective slave cylinder.

Yup, what he said.... In modes (other than race)on ABS equipped bikes applying front brake also applies some rear brake. It's not an even amount, it only applies partial rear braking in this circumstance. I think it's linear. Anyone know for sure?

I've never locked the front up, so I couldn't tell if the back was. It's easy to lock the rear and have the ABS kick in without the front kicking in. Going to watch a video again and see.

Lol, I use mine. On the track, just barely with my other bike. Locks up so easy lol. But with a V-twin, the engine decel pretty much acts like a rear brake...

Now when they say one level for every mode, Race sport and wet, are they referring to ABS 1, 2 and 3 settings? In other words, if I have ABS set to 2 or 3 in the "RACE" mode, am I right that you still get both tires? Is it the fact you are in RACE mode, or the ABS setting, what controls? I would think the ABS setting. I don't think there is anything inherent in RACE mode as you could customize that mode to basically be wet mode if you wanted. Or am I wrong? Wouldn't be the first time.

I think I'm right in saying the brakes are not linked and using the front brake will not result in the rear being applied.

In Wet/Sport modes you have ABS on both front and rear brakes, and ABS on the front in Race only.

There was a thread about this a few months ago, the manual isn't too clear and doesn't translate well.

Next time you hit the track, try using it. It helps limit mechanical travel and stabilizes the geometry, and every TINY bit helps right if you're outbraking someone.

Totally off topic, but funny: I raced for an entire season with a completely non-functional rear brake. Somehow it still passed tech every time, I guess just because there was still a brake lever on there...... No problem at all until I got punted off the track in the braking zone at 90 mph and had to slow down in the grass! THAT was an unpleasant episode! I blew both of my fork seals and even bent one of the forks hitting some ruts and going airborn like a motocrosser. Somehow I managed to keep it up on 2 wheels, no idea how I did that. I've always maintained at least a marginally functional rear brake since then, although I never touch it on the track.

So the rear break pedal will use ABS when used.
When only using the front brake, only the front will use ABS and the rear will use the gyroscope so the system controls rearbrake when the rearwheel begins to lift.
Good to know that the rearbrakepedal has a function.
And i'm with you guys, have used the rear only twice till now, only when i start praying

You guys need to re-read Transnone's post quoting Ducati. They openly state that yes, they are doing combined braking (ala Honda's C-ABS, also by Bosch). The 9ME (9ME being Series 9, Motorcycle, Enhanced) processor does support combined braking, and both the Pani and Multi do it in modes 2 and 3, in addition to the ABS and anti-lift. 3 is highest intervention, 2 is less and mode 1 shuts combined braking and anti-lift off.

FWIW, the 9 series can also apply rear brake with no pedal or lever application at all if it's incorporated into the traction control scheme. Not sure but I don't think Ducati are using this function. Yet..
