Ohlins Fork Cartridge Kit and TTX Shock for Base

Hi all,

Just got the Ohlins cartridge kit for the Marzocchi forks installed. TTX MK2 shock was installed a month or so ago. Bought as a bundle from Kyle Racing.

Ohlins has two different cartridge kits: 1) the standard (which I got), and 2) a really trick gas-charged kit which I believe Superstock racers install.

The conventional wisdom seemed to be that the biggest change in feel would come from the shock, but so far I'm noticing the fork upgrade more. Just an overall improvement in damping and feedback from the stock Marzocchi stuff.

The rear is still stiff as hell. But then again I haven't done any twisties or track riding with the new equipment yet. I probably won't notice a difference until then...

I Ride: 899 Panigale Track
I just installed mine last week and had them out on the track on Sunday (TTX MKII shock has been on since June). The forks are better, particularly the control under hard braking, there's not as much initial dive yet the forks are still plush and offer great feel and traction at lean. I had just ridden at the same track two weeks ago with the stock forks and there was a noticeable lack of bumps with the Ohlins carts, they're just better.

I was thinking about the TTX25 cartridges but after much deliberation I decided not to go for them due to the increased maintenance they require. They're really for Superstock racing and I'm not interested in tearing the forks down twice during the season for maintenance since we run a packed schedule of track days. Plus I would have waited another few weeks for them and wouldn't have got to try them out this year!

Trauma - Please don't pay $3181 for the carts and TTX shock, that's highway robbery, PM me or give me a call!

OP - You should also consider upgrading your damper to the adjustable Ohlins one if you're going to do track days, depending on what level of skill you're at. The front gets light on the Panigale ALL THE TIME if you're riding hard, and the adjustable damper is a lifesaver!

Did the base come with a different one than the S? I never even noticed...

Yes, the base comes with a non-adjutable Sachs damper, the S comes with the adjustable Íhlins damper.

Cartridge Kit + Springs and shock were $2275 from Dan Kyle at Kyle Racing.

Kyle Racing - Roadracing Motorcycles

Installation of shock was about an hour. Fork cartridge installation was 4 hours. All done at Desmotosport in San Francisco.
