Running and playing with DDA+

Had a great morning out on the bike knocking off the kms to get her run in.

Fantastic day in the mountains and playing with the DDA+ on my Tri and love to map overlay feature. Makes it interesting to use on the road as well.

Does anyone know if there is a way to overlay the DDA information on the GoPro video I've got?

Cheer and Happy New Year all

Nice - looks useful.. is that 104 Max MPH I see?

I have to wonder if this could be used as evidence.. Might need to practice erasing the DDA so it become second nature.

You need a Contour GPS for that interface - the Gopro dosen't store that info.

Looks great Speedyellow. I tried using mine once at the track but it didn't turn out well. I need to read up some more on how to properly use it and get the most out of it.

And here is another photo from the day out. The Cliffs without barriers here keep the mind focused sometimes.

So which video system does support that so I can make the most of it?

Thanks

In the US for a traffic violation, I'm not sure how just a speed reading can be used against you unless it was tied to a specific geographic location (for jurisdiction) and some type of vehichle description (such as the VIN) to make sure it's you and not someone else and of course, the time/date.

I'm not familiar with the DDA+ system so all of that info may or may not be available (or could be extracted or pieced together) but I plan to get one soon so it would be good to know how to stay out of trouble. Erasing sounds like a good practice just in case your equipment falls into the wrong hands.

On DDA+ the time, date, GPS location, speed plus all the bike data is being recorded so IF someone knew it was there and it was recording (which I would view as very unlikely) and they did get their hands on it I believe it would make damming evidence against you in court.

As there is no external signs on the bike that it could be recording I think we are a long way off it being requested or seized from you. In another 10 years when things like this are common its a whole other thing.

The Contour GPS as I mentioned for sure. Someone else on a thread did a lot of integration testing, I will try to find it.

You can erase it right from the dash

I had to also, but it works pretty good. I would also like to integrate it with video as well. The biggest thing I learned at the track is you have to turn it on before every outing. You can not turn the bike off, so right before you go on track go into the dash setting and turn it on. You then need to start the lap timer with the trigger at desired start/finish line. AT least thats how I got it to work.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, now I know I didn't turn it on properly as you said for each run. That explains the crap I recorded... Is there any special shutdown process after each run or use?

No, it will stop recording when you turn the bike off

Yeah its a bit of a shame that its so many button presses to turn the thing on, mates wondered what the hell I was doing before starting to ride each time.

I know this is an old thread but has anyone managed to overlay the DDA data over a Contour GPS video?

from what i know, the DP DDA does not let you export data into any other system..
it takes some dedicated stuff inlcuding a datalogger to either capture data or plug into the ECU for the engine-data

AiM EVO4

should do it.. camera used to be 1K euros
