Use the search function as there are plenty of threads regarding it on this forum. Ducati are seemingly in the process of addressing it so fingers crossed should you get a new bike later in the year you should have no issues. |

Look for the thread i started a week ago, i posted an actual email from ducati addressing the issue and scheduling a fix with new parts to address the heat issues.

Fel - bottom line, there are heat issues. Some people live in hotter areas, some have more sensitive butts. And Ducati is coming out with a fix of some sort in the next month or so. What I'm saying, is probably less than your 1198. But on any bike where the exhaust pipes or mufflers are under the seat, there will be some heat. Didn't stop any of us from buying one - a stupid reason IMH to base choosing a bike on.

I'm not a Ducati owner, but am very interested so let me give you the non-biased opinion. A very long time friend of mine owns a Ducati (& Honda) dealer. I have a Goldwing for sale on consignment at his dealer right now. I've told him for a while that I may be interested in a Panigale when the Goldwing goes away. After a few offers to test ride his personal Panigale, I finally took him up on it and rode a Panigale 100 miles. I went out on a nice 75 degree or so day. About ten minutes into the ride it felt like I had turned on a seat heater. Not only does my Goldwing have a heated seat, but my new BMW 1600 does as well. I kid you not, I think the seat on the Ducati got hotter than either the BMW or Goldwing seats got with their seat heaters turned on high. |

Ducati is using a solution from MotoGP by adding a metal box over the exhaust. No one is sure how it is going to look.

Nor if it is going to work, as the wisdom of the masses (and my right thigh) indicate the heat is coming from the head mainly, not so much the under seat exhaust. That's what I think... |

Not a single person on this forum has returned the bike because of it, or even entertained the notion. As I said, stupid reason to base a bike purchase on IMO, and I would think everyone else.

That thing is jewelry, not thermodynamic magic. It won't do a damn thing to the temp on your ass.

This has got to be the strangest and most inconsistent issue I have every heard about on the 1199. I rode all summer in temps from 95F all the way to 110F, mostly moving but some stop/go. No real issue at all and def no burning wearing full summer gear. Its now around 60F in the mountains and I would welcome a little more heat bleed onto my legs and butt. Delta One rides in much hotter conditions in Dubai - similarly no major issues for him. WTF

I ride in very hot conditions here, lowest temps for riding are 26C up to 40C and I've not had an issue with heat. Yes it gets warm but no worse than my old 996, less even I would say. I don't sit in traffic here which I'm guessing is the major issue. It's not a city stop start bike anyway. |

Buy it mate. The bike won't disappoint you in any way, including the heat! I ride in Singapore. Spend some time setting it up right and this bike rewards you almost magically - your only issue will be wiping the grin off your face. |
