The only waste is a waste of time waiting for the upper guard which is not yet for sale.
I am waiting for my bottom guard, since it's worth every penny. You made the right choice.

Could be an unnecessary waste of money but I feel better anyway [/QUOTE]

I meant the cost of those guards was unreal.

You, absolutely, did the right thing by fitting guards.

Enjoy the Pan...........

I wasn't referring to your post, I just meant some people think you don't need them and thats fine they could be right and indeed I've never bothered before, but I do have three well squashed impacts in just 300 miles so I think the lower rad is definitely in the line of fire !!

The Evotech ones are well made and easy to fit:-

Carefully undo a couple of screws pop it in place and replace the screws, I say carefully because the screws pass through some rubber washers and then a spacer to the cylinder head and if you were to dislodge them it would be a longer job, anyway it all went well and looks very neat.

Be careful with the guards as they can create cooling issues. At the weekend Millsports Lee Johnson took 1st place in the Mondello Masters race on the Pani. In Practise they fitted a certain after market guard that was to restrictive and caused the bike to run to hot at 105. Took it off and replaced with Beenflickers idea, sorted, much better job.

Good thing is the boys have found a suspension setup that is almost on the money.
Will put settings on "handling issues" thread once i have them.

That's good news on the suspension. Would be very interested. I'm away in France next week, including two days on track at Val and could give them a try. I also looked at some of the commercial guards and thought the same thing, the bike runs hot and the last thing I need is anything that restricts airflow.

I am interested by the brand, and could understand you would PM it rather than publicly stating it. TIA!

They ditched the electronics and re valved, re spring along with gas cartridges. Not really for road bikes but good info learned. Just have to wait for Mct next month to do mine.

Just ordered from Shift-Tech today. Around 2 huns for both guards.

All the carbon on my Hyper was from them, excellent quality and top notch service.

You're not kidding

However, it would be good to see if there are things that could be translated over to the road bikes without having to spend another shed load of money on suspension upgrades.

I got mine from Cox Racing Group personally and think it is total quality. I know what you mean about radiator removal but I am using this to install the Liquid Performance Engine Ice equivalent. If you just want to snap a guard on without removing anything I would have no idea what brand you would use. It may be a pain in the ass but I want the best on my bike, not a flimsy pos. Im sure you will be able to get 3/4 of your money back if ya sell it here. Return it at least and get something else for your bike gurl.

OK, now that it's decided, where can I order the Evotech here in the U.S? Do they have a U.S. distributor or does any U.S. websites stock them?

This forum is great. It helps so much to get other owners views and experiences with the 1199 and the products offered for it. Thank you forum members for your input.
