Hey rm4two,

where did you get this info from? I just ordered a bike for April 2013 and would like to know what kind of isolation is planned by Ducati.
I will also ask my dealer, but he didn't mention any of this information when I ordered the bike yesterday.

Heard the same thing from my dealer 2weeks ago...that Ducati is addressing the problem on the rear exhaust - heat related issue. They will probably produce a better kind of exhaust heat shield or a heat resistant cloth to be placed above the rear cylinder head or both...

That's what I was told...so I guess we just have to wait for the fix to this heat issue problem Ducati will have in store for us Pani owners.

I do hope this is correct. The heat is fairly ridiculous. I don't suppose it will be warranty related? Of course not.

no offense, guess when riding full speed all the time, you get enough ventilation.

when i wrapped mine and tested it without the shield at 38 deg.C in evening traffic, it was terrible.

i like the looks without the shield better, too!

I'm hoping this will help with the heat. Will be testing it tomorrow.
Is it mandatory to remove the head pipes or can you do it with the pipes on?

you can leave the pipes on. make sure to either lift the rear subframe or take it off. it will help a lot. also taking off the rear wheel will help in terms of accessibility .

thx. Have you just wrapped it or also sprayed?

I bought the termotec spray as well. I will install the head covers from Ducati and then decide whether or not to move ahead with wrapping

Why didn't you wrap the cylinders too? That is where most of the heat is supposedly

i thought of it.

I was sitting in traffic last year heading downtown with friends, Its just uncomfortable to have the heat. I had spare time and wrap from a turbo build i did on a car so i thought id try it out; see what it does. im sure it helps a bit.
my experience from using it on cars is that it works for sure to keep engine bay temps down.

have you ever heard of this magical material called INCONEL?

but seriously, ceramic coating is your best bet at this stage, with cf cover.

DEI titanium wrap will not last. I had wrapped mine last year and took it off yesterday to minimize mechanics time on installing new heat shield. the wrap on the inside was starting to burn (from the intense heat) and was actually beginning to flake off. it was a mess getting it off. With heat, the wrap helped slightly, but on extended rides/traffic, i could still feel the heat on the right side and under the seat- was welcome in the winter, but as temps rise, i rather have the new heat shield.
