Mine did on the rear sprocket flange bolts. I guess I did get a little bit extra for the $341.48. |

By doing this you take extra steps to ensure bolts don't vibrate loose

Like someone else said vibration can cause a nut or bolt to back off over time. (Please if you don't know this dont panic!) Safety wiring is exactly that...safety. Think of it as a back up to the back up. All of your bolts and nuts are torqued to a certain value, and yes in theory this should keep everything tight and snug. There are the freak occasions that vibration can cause nuts and bolts to loosen up....this is where the safety wiring comes into play. And like someone else said, safety wiring keeps a positive tightening pressure on the nuts and bolts when used. And on top of that....its looks good...and squids think you know what you are doing when you dont know what you are doing. |

Safety wiring in this iinstance is more for bling than anything else. As the odds on all the sprocket loosening up and coming out at the same time are pretty astronomical. That said, for racing and some track day groups you have to safety wire specific components. Brake caliper bolts, axle pinch bolts, oil drain plug, oil filler, oil filter (not on this bike of course). etc. Also, because one of the track groups I ride with requires, I studied up on safety wiring, definately an art. typically for paired bolts you wire ina reverse S Heres a great link: |
