While cleaning my bike yesterday I noticed what initially looked like a wet spot or oil on the lower/fwd portion of my mud guard. Upon closer inspection, I could see the sheen was actually melted plastic, bubbles and all. I'll be posting pics later when I return from the dealer. I live and ride in Honolulu, HI where it's hot, but not that hot. Details: My Bike is set to the progressive setting and sits a lot lower than it did when it was in the flat position. It practically stands straight up on the kick stand. Has anyone else experienced or heard any of this? <<<Juice>>> |

Will wait for pics...looked at mine but looks like fine, also set to Progressive, how many miles? Stock exhaust, slip-ons or full exhaust? |

Check out the forum posts on the F to P how tos. Maybe there was something forgotten in the setup. Possible not extending the control rod to the next detent...? I noticed how low my bike was when the control rod wasn't extended when placed on P.

Had the same exact thing on my original hugger. Changed it to the CF unit and was not bothered any further. It is exactly a tear shaped shiney area coincident with the center of the exhaust loop above it. Serious heat, for sure. Put the CF piece on and forget about it. |

Whomever reset your suspension forgot to adjust the control arm and this is what is likely causing the hugger to melt because it is now too close to the pipe. Your bike should not sit lower if the suspension is on Progressive.
