here are a couple pics of the filter cartridge that ducati has implented for the 1199. it does have a front and back so I imagine you can't put it in backwards without screwing something up so pay attention of the old one configuration before you pull it out. looking inside the filter it is reinforced with a metal mesh screen to prevent the filter media from "crushing" in on itself, so it is a sturdy filter. not sure it costs $36 to make, more like $3.60, if that even if it is a low production part. this is a pure profit part for Ducati. I can see Wix or a comparable company making one in the near future for half the cost. ![]() |

o rings were cheap, only $4 a piece . I don't plan on changing those out until they become torn or brittle/ loose their elasticity.

thanks, I think I'm going to have a couple spares on hand, as it'd totally suck to be changing oil, tearing one and having to wait for a replacement. Is crush washer same size as the 1098? |

Just some input. I bought a oil change kit off of ebay from riversidemotorcycles, all OEM Ducati parts, Filter-Crush washer-2 rubber O rings for $40. Fast shipment as well.

Yea, that filter is a pos. They don't even wrap them from the manufacturer to keep dirt out. I found a trick for getting the old filter out, since there's no space on the side to grip. You can push a flathead screwdriver into the black center of the filter (I guess a pressure bypass valve) and then pull the filter out with the screwdriver. Also, build a funnel under the filter cap so oil doesn't spill into the exhaust heat shield (I made one with aluminum foil).
