Melting above exhaust?

So I was cleanin' her up the other day and noticed that there seems to be a melted or broken piece of heat wrapped plastic right above the exhaust (pics). I'm not going to act like I know what the hell it is, but I don't think its always looked like that. Any insight on what it is or if it will be an issue that should be looked at?

Thanks

I Ride: was 2011 848 evo, now finally 2012 1199 base with ABS
It is the exhaust flapper valve motor, which connects to a cable that goes to the flapper valve in the exhaust, near the rear tyre.

I removed it permanently the other day whilst fitting Termi slip-ons, as per fitting instructions.

Cheers

I Ride: '12 Panigale "Base"
I saw that yesterday when I was cleaning as well. Have only had my bike less than a week so I am still learning what all the components are!

Adriandzo, remove your right hand side fairing to have complete access....dab a bit of Silicone sealant on it to make it a bit weather proof...

Nothing really to worry about....
