It seems after riding this weekend my 1199 will no longer shift into neutral when stopped. My bike has 1400 miles on it and has always shifted into neutral prior to this weekend. I have tried shifting it into neutral while I was rolling, but can only make it happen every now and then. The lever is just stuck in first with no movement. My clutch fluid is not that dark, and I am wearing the same SIDI boots so that can't be an issue. Is this problem cured possibly with a flush of the hydraulic fluid for the clutch or something worse? When the bike is turned off the gearbox can be shifted to neutral with no problem. I thought maybe by readjusting the lever out from the bar would take care of the issue, but I discovered the clutch adjustment knob for the lever just turns, but movement in the lever happens. Brake lever adjustment works fine! Any advice is welcomed!

Have you done anything to the bike recently, ie cange the oil? You could try bleeding the clutch, tho not sure that'll do anything. |

Bike shifts great going up and down through the gears. It's just at a stop, the shifter lever is stuck in 1st. I don't understand why when the bike is off I can pop it in neutral no problem. | |

Yep back to the dealer is your best bet, let them deal with it.

Had the same issue after riding 150 miles. The dealer bled the clutch and all was well.

Usually just a bubble in the master cyclinder, just needs to be "burped" out of the bleeder at the top.

I have had this issue every 1000 miles. The short-term fix is to bleed the clutch, which solves it until the next 1000 miles. I've. Even doing this because my dealer is 600 miles away. My bike is now at the dealer to get this fixed (and down load the latest fueling map). Amoung other things, the dealer expects to replace the slave cylinder. Other parts that they may replace if required include the master cylinder. I will let you know what they do to fix it when I get it back. (also, you may get these same symptoms if your oil level falls too low.) |

Well EURO CYCLES took care of me today! Clutch and gear box now work properly. I had the clutch fluid changed and the lever adjustment knob fixed. Bike now goes right into neutral! Plus, on top of this I got the recalls handled as well! What made it the best experience is they let me borrow a Hypermotard SP instead of sitting around waiting! A great dealership!

I have had the same problem on every Ducati ive ever owned. Bleeding helps momentarily, slave cylinder replacement helps tremendously, and master cylinder replacement completes completes repair. Also replacing the fluid does get you some additional time too. Im just use to it now, and yes it does wear your clutch plates faster, your not getting the full power of the bike. At highest rpms slippage is most noteable and top speed will be diminished. Ducati will never get this straight. Im convinced. still love my bike though, lol

I had exactly the same problem from new...just couldn't find neutral especially from second...impossible. At the recent safety recall I mentioned it to the dealer who bled the clutch and now it's perfect.
