ok title isnt exactly where i want to head this but i got your attention. can you trust the 7500miles (12000km) service? it seems long and i dont understand how could this be compare to cars. im no mechanic so if sumone can explain why a HIGHer compression/Reving motorcycle be more reliable then a car for its 10k km service. my last motorcycle was a gixxer and that was 4k miles or (6000km) why would the panigale be less maintenance? |

Warranty states 600/7500/15000 miles service must be performed by the dealer. But i plan to change my oil at 2500 intervals anyway.

they can say that in the manual but they can't do that at least not in the US, as long as you have documentation of the service done they have to honor whether it was you or an independent shop did the work. please look on page 27 of the US panigale owner's manual Last edited by zvez; September 13th, 2012 at 03:18 PM. |

I trust my personal dealership without any doubt in world. Some of the other ones in this area I cannot say that about! As far as the "owners manual" states, I have been around Ducati's long enough to know I dont follow that thing to any letter, and learn from REPUTABLE sources and experienced techs as far as in depth maint goes. As we all learn here, everyone has their opinion and I have more or less stopped giving mine out due to some real toolbags on here "telling me" what I "should or should not" do to MY BIKE! I only offer "advice" when it is asked for now and would NEVER change oil at 7500 miles regardless of weight, brand or other testimony. Some things just NEED to be done according to the book though. So do I "trust" Ducati? No. I take what they have given me and provide experience and preventive maint to it always. However, you have to keep the faith and not get wrapped around the axle over a poorly designed bolt, occasional oil leak, or smoke from an exhaust. Of course they will fix what is rightly wrong and defective, but it does fall upon ourselves to stay on top of recommended maint and always remember "Prevention is better than cure!' |
