Hello everyone. I'm new to the board. I was wondering if someone could help me out with a problem I created. I own a MV Agusta 1078 312RR and I am attempting to put a 1199 dash on it. I already bought the dash and the left hand combo switch to control it. Now I just need a wiring diagram so I can get it all figured out. Thank in advance for any help. Will post pics when I'm done if anyone is interested.

Good luck to you. I"m no electronics engineer, but i"ll give you my 10 cents worth. I believe the pani is using a CAN BUS system and the dash probably holds a central ECU which is linked to smaller satellite ECU"s I think they will be programmed as a set and as such all need to be present. I"m in the motor trade and i"ve seen Jaguars come through the door in a non start state and the problem has been the fitting of an aftermarket stereo by the owner. You see the factory installed stereo unit also had an integral ECU and without its presence the whole system went down after its removal. Reinstalling the original stereo solved the problem. Let us know if you get it sorted. God loves a trier. |

I do not think the 1199 dash and the MV Agusta ECU will be compatible… AT ALL. The Panigale ECU is a Mitsubishi and the MV Agusta is possibly a Marelli Magnetti. Either way the systems will not allow a spice to plug and play. George Villar |

Well you can install a multitude of aftermarket dashes on the MV so I suspect it will just be a matter of how to hook it up so everything works correctly. I understand that there will be many functions that well not work (i.e. ABS) as the MV is not fitted with these options but electrically speaking if a sensor turns on a light on the stock dash it should turn on the light on the ducati dash. But that is why I need a ducati wiring diagram to see if this is even feasible.

The owners manual has a full wiring diagram and can be downloaded from the website. Unless you write a CAN emulator or MV and Ducati use the exact same CAN message IDs you're completely out of luck. No sensors run to the Dash, it gets everything over the network. |

Ok thanks for the tip on the wiring diagram. Got left hand combo switch hooked up last night and got switched power to turn on dash. Easy stuff out of the way. Now to make the rest work is gonna be the challenge.

The others are right, the Panigale uses a CAN BUS system in which everything is tied into the ECU, including the tail light. In all honesty, I would imagine the only way to make that happen is swap out all the sensors and attempt to tie those in so that the correct voltages end up hitting the ECU/Dash properly for it to work right, otherwise, you're going to be SOL. Good Luck tho! |

Yeah this is going to be real rough. Taking a dash from one company that uses their own CAN messaging to communicate, and trying to put it on another bike that may or may not use their own CAN messaging, it just sounds like a nightmare. It's not just plug-n-play that uses all the same messages.

Got everything working so far. Turn signals high and low beam horn. Also can scroll through menu and change backlight and other options. Getting close. Ran out of connectors and wire. Looking like a huge birds nest so far but hey that's the way it is sometimes

It is almost impossible. 90% of all the displayed informations are taken from the CAN bus. Also if you want to light the back turn signal, you have to send a command, via the can bus, to the BBS ( blackbox ), the bbs will turn on the light. The rpm data are also sent in two bytes of a specific message id flowing on the canbus. |

I hope you get this to work, but if you are changing dash, what ruled out Translogic, Race Technology or Stack etc. Surely an easier opinion?

Great questions everyone. I understand that this project perplexes almost all of you but here is how it all came down. In the quest to find an aftermarket dash my customer said he wanted one like the one on te panigale. We looked at all the major ones and none of them quite measured up. Starlane was too flashy. We finally going one that had the oled technology that the panigale has but it was butt ugly. So I priced what the ducati dash was and it costs about $200 less than most aftermarket dashes. Add in an extra $100 for the left hand combo switch and you are right there price wise. And everyone here has to admit that the panigale dash is the sexiest one out there. So at the end of the day whatever the cost the customer gets what he wants. I am aware that I might even have to purchase an ecu to make this work but I will make it work

If you get this working it will be quite impressive. CAN messages can come from any network node so to replicate all the functions you'll need all devices: ECU, Vehicle control unit (BBS), and E-Lock Control RElay. ECu has the sensor inputs for side stand, oil pressure, etc BBS has gear indicator, fuel reserve, etc not sure what the e lock does |

The E-lock is something to do with immobiliser system i believe. |
