Brake Bleeding - Any Different on a ABS Bike?

I'm going to flush the brake & clutch fluid through this winter and replace with Motul 660.

Does the 1199 have a standard bleeding process or is there any special trick or process linked to the ABS.

I Ride: 1199 & CBR
I know on my honda you have to activate the abs pumps throughout the process...prolly better to let the dealer do it until the manual comes out.
You may not get a solid lever without it.

I Ride: oh yes, I do!!!
i bled mine with the standard process, ass my lever felt spongy before, didn't get better.
i guess, unfortunately we will have to bleed at the stealership (money and brake fluid wise)

Should'nt be a difference, I bled mine in the traditional method and worked just fine. FYI you have to pull the rear caliper of the brake and flip it upright, holding above the rear master cylinder (if you can tho I couldn't on my streetfighter). otherwise you'll get air in and have a spongy rear brake.

The only special bleeding I was aware of is on linked brakes, (my honda for instance, and it's a pain!)

did you bleed some from the top nipple on your master cylinder? That should eliminate any spongy issue.

I did this in addition to bleeding the other nipple, and it worked. I did not have to take the calliper off to bleed the rear brake.

that's surprising as on my aprilia and streetfighter because it's upside down and mounted low you have to take the caliper off.

mine turned dark after a few months especially the rear brake, lots of heat.
Being dark doesn't necessarily mean the performance is degraded.

When my fluids show up (today I think), I was going to flush the fluids. I'm just going to hook a Mityvac pump to the caliper bleeder and add the new fluid until the old stuff is flushed.

On a side note, my EBC pads showed up and I checked for myself to see how easy it will be to swap the pads when I need too. 15 minutes max all around . They don't have wear grooves, but appear identical in composition and backing plate (just thinner).

HOw do you get a tight seal with the pump? I bought one but I can't seem to get a good seal on the fittings and so can't pull a vacuum with it.

Um, I just stick it on there and start pumping lol. You may have to push it down at first. I used Motorex mineral oil and DOT4.

I just gave it a go, left the rear alone, just exchanged fluid in the res. Front I bled, or tried to bleed. It worked ok, doesn't feel much better, but doesn't seem worse... Clutch was easy peasy .

look at Cobra's pic in post #16 (below your post) the nipple is sticking out the top and has a black rubber cover that you take off to bleed. Same on clutch and brake.

Nope rear doesn't have one.

So how do I bleed the rear brake? Is it just from the caliper only?

I did that and its still soft so I take it i left some air in there? What should I do next?
