Rossi finish 2nd at Misano

This was the first race in last two years I didn't watch and this guy did pretty good .
Finishing 4 second behind lorenzo on a dry track. And he dedicated the win to Marco Sic.

FYI: you might what to put a spoiler alert in title, and have the result in your thread. This way people who haven't seen the race have a choice to click or not.

It was nice to see a Ducati at the sharp end of the grid. I hope there is more to come with five races remaining!

To be fair, it's a bit misleading to just say Rossi took second.

More accurately, Rossi took second when the race had a couple false starts, causing confusion that ended with the fastest rider (Dani Pedrosa) starting from the back and getting taken out in the first lap by Hector Barbara, as well as Cal Crutchlow getting a crappy start due to a wasted clutch and subsequently crashing out as he struggled to get ahead in the field, and Ben Spies struggling during the race due to lack of bike setup as well as probably clutch issues. Then there was Dovi who had front end braking issues, and Nicky Hayden who was just hoping to make it through the race.

Add that to the fact that Ducati just went through a bunch of testing with a new swing arm and chassis that they ended up using for the race, which may have fixed a bit of the grip issue that Rossi has been complaining about.

So yes, Rossi took second! I was definitely excited, but I think it would be presumptuous to say he beat a lot of people. Lets see how he does in the next race! I hope he really did improve against the whole field!

Dont forget there was no practice sessions at all as it was rained out and this is essentially Rossi's 'home track'. . . While these guys have probably all ridden this course, Rossi is I would argue more familiar with the track than most others in MotoGP.

It's a good result for him and for Ducati. But one that definitely has some qualifying factors. .. .

I was actually thinking as I was watching him, he must know this track so well he could probably do it blind.

Can you get a little bit more possitive about Rossi. Ok, he is and was bad with the Ducati. But yesterday, that was pretty good, only 4 seconds after the GREAT Lorenzo. You have to admit, they never got an opportunity to pass him...

He was a GREAT champion and he still is... 9 times WORLD CHAMPION... Who can say that, NOBODY...

Rossi fan...

Really ? might want to check that -

Carlo Ubbiali - 9 times world champion
Mike Hailwood - 9 times world champion
Angel Nieto - 13 times world champion
Giacomo Agostini - 15 times world champion

Not saying he isn't a great champion as he was (and potentially still could be but that is probably a long shot) - but there are/were plenty of others before him as well. Agostini is the "Ago" that you see quite a few bikes referenced (like MV Agusta, etc).

lol hey we're not getting negative about Rossi. Personally I love the guy and always root for him to do well. I was pumped that he was able to nab 2nd and stay there the entire race. But we really do need to put it into perspective. The only way conditions could have favored him anymore is if Jesus himself came down and knocked Jorge out of the race.

But that being said, I also acknowledged that Ducati may have made some headway with their problems during their recent testing, so I'm looking forward to seeing how things go in the next race. I think that'll be our best indicator to how much better Rossi is actually riding on the Ducati.
