Major recall on 2012 BMW 1000RR

There has been a major recall on the 1000RR. It's not clear what the recall is for...but it must be pretty major...BMW is prohibiting its dealers from selling or delivering any new 1000RR's

That basically sucks for anybody that cancelled their Panigale order because of delays to pick up an S1000RR.

I love reading posts like this on BMW chats..

"Actually, in the purchase of Duacti by Audi, Audi paid off BMW Motorrad to detune all '12 S1kRRs because it rapes the Panigale so bad."

Just goes to show you we're all the same.. No matter what brand we ride.. Unless its a Ducati, then were just better

The Beemer has been in the line of fire since it was released, Kawasaki owners have been trying it for the last 2 years. It's pretty sad really that a Ducati forum has more posts about another make of bike. The top bike will always be a target and when the others don't quite match up the excuses start to roll like "power isn't everything" "we will be better in the twisties" "faster on track" "the BMW has no mid range"

Yet very few of the people making the excuses have ridden both bikes!

More Posts? Really.. 522 threads with over 6,324 posts and you consider it sad that a VERY few posts mention the BMW? hmm..

Why wouldn't we, its is a fantastic bike. If you read all 6324 post on the forum, of which only ~110 mention the S1000RR, few have really slagged off the BMW.

I've ridden them both and though my head is with the BMW, for shear capability and value, my heart is with Ducati.

Choosing the Panigale over the BMW is a choice of passion, logic plays little part in the decision.. To be a Ducatisti is to have Passion for Ducati's motorcycles, not loyalty.

I'm trading in my beloved 1198s and $16K for my 1199s with a few extra's. For that money I could keep my 1198s and get a S1000RR.. No logic at all, but lots and lots of passion.

Do you use your 4x4s though? I would hope so being in Aus.

Most people North America have a big ass truck or SUV and they're nothing but pavement princesses.

I've got an 88 Toyota 4x4 pick-up (213k miles, rode hard and put up wet regularly, but cared for also when required), 11 BMW M3, and 12 Panigale on the way, the best of all worlds IMO.

Trying not to comment on the S1000rr woes with a first year superbike on the way for karma's sake, .
