Hi How do you measure the rear ride height on the Panigale - and what is the sweet number ? |

The number I got from Ohlins that some of the Superstock teams are running is an eye-to-eye shock length of 306mm, with linkage in the "F" flat position and with Pirelli 200/55 tire. Ducati does not have a ride height tool for the Panigale, I think there are some aftermarket ones out there but without everyone using the same one it will be impossible to compare anyway. Eye-to-eye shock length is something anyone can get at, and it's very easy to measure given the location of the shock, just measure the center of the front mounting bolt to the center of the rear mounting bolt.

I have just had my bike set up by Ducati Coventry / JH Racing. Other than getting the suspension sorted the ride height was lowered 10mm at the back and 3mm at the front. They used the ride height tool too. I ride it F and the whole set up has made a mahoosive difference to an already good bike. Interestingly they felt no need to change the springs despite my 260 lbs size. |

I set my rear shock to 306mm, which was 3mm shorter than it was, but didn't measure exactly how much it actually dropped the rear ride height. I also lowered the front 3mm, per the Ohlins specs, so probably a very similar setup to what JHP has. Going to try it out at the track this weekend.

Hi Jarel, Thanks for the "306mm" - I will set it at this for at starting point. How many mm do you have from the top of the fork to the tripleclamp ? |

9mm from the top of the fork CAP (not the fork tube) to the top of the triple clamp. This is with the standard model Marzocchi forks. This is 3mm more than the stock position, which was 6mm.

Tried out the new ride height setup this weekend, don't like it better. I think I'm going to raise it back up. Turn-in was quicker but it seems to have come at the expense of mid-corner stability/speed. Could be the tires since the R10's dont like as much weight on the front as the slicks do, so i might drop it back down when i switch back to slicks and try it again. Also with the rear lower it's more wheelie-prone on corner exits.

Update: did another track day, and this time raised the rear ride height back up to where I had it before (309mm eye-to-eye shock length) but left the front lowered 3mm front stock. Definitely like the rear at this height with the 190/55 tire, and I might even raise it up a little more next time to try that. The notable difference is in the drive off the turn when applying the throttle, the bike holds a tighter exit line and doesn't have as much of a wheelie problem with the higher ride height in the rear, so I can get on the gas a little earlier. I had no issues with wheelspin at this height.
