I Ride: 1199 Panigale
Checa says Panigale like MotoGP Bike

Today on GPOne.com:
Checa: the Panigale like a MotoGP

Now, I've never ridden a MotoGP bike obviously, but I do agree that the Panigale requires more "precision" than the 1198 did. Or another way to state it is that you don't "manhandle" the Panigale and thrash it around like the older bike, it demands a lighter touch and is much more sensitive to inputs. I think that makes it easier to ride fast.

He said it handles like A MotoGP bike, not THE MotoGP bike. Carlos only rode two seasons with Ducati (1 full season in 2005 and only 2 races as a replacement rider in 2010) and many others with Yamaha and Honda. I think it's a huuuuuge leap to say he is being negative about the bike and comparing it to the MotoGP Ducati bikes that have issues.

Lets wait until the bike is a bit more sorted and he gets in a few more practice sessions before we start freaking out.

Err, more worrying is when he says:

I tried to draft some four-cylinders down the straight: I don't lose a lot of ground, but I certainly couldn't think about passing them either.

Good that he doesn't lose a LOT!!

I Ride: 2010 R1 and 1199 S/ABS on the way
maybe Ducati is being conservative so they don't get penalized with extra weight restrictions right off the bat Time will tell...

It took years to get the 1098R tweaked, they never even competed with the 1198, it's going to take some R&D time with the 1199 just with any other race bike ever built by anyone.

Just to clarify, the 1098R is an 1198cc, that's why they never had to re-homogoate the 1198.
