Going down buff racing engineers DBR to see if he can make some sort of baffles up. Will let you know results.
Been told if you only got the end cans it is still 107 decibels. But you could always slip the standard ones on(pain in the rear)

Um. So you can't (legally) use the Termi's on the road and you can't use them on (some) tracks. Makes them an expensive ornament to my mind. Don't get me wrong, I like a nice sounding bike and I'll take as many HP's as i can get, but hasn't this gone too far? Anyone had noise measurements done on the stock pipes?

I think he meant a DB measurement for noise...and expensive ornament sounds about right...

I think imma live with the stock pipes and remove baffles myself after I see how it does at my local track :-)

Right this is being re visited again, by the looks... Can you give details of exactly how the test was done?

Basically the feedback I have had is that the testers need to do the test correctly, baring in mind the the exhausts on this thing are very lose to the ground and therefore a lot of the extra noise is in effect being rebounded of the ground, and is also picking up a lot of the engine noise to so giving incorrect levels... Clearly someone somewhere needs to get this sorted so it's done correctly and therefore gives a true reading, then we can start to worry if it still comes back at that!

How is this measured in UK? At Assen racetrack they have noise poles next to the track. So when you have a 107 db exhaust measured 50 cm from exhaust I can imagine noise on track is less. This coming weekend we have Viva Italia. I will drive on track too in the Ducati race demo. We need to put the db killers in though.

The noise meter is placed 50cm from your can at 45 degrees in the uk, although some circuits also have ride by meters placed at a specific distance from the track edge. The engine revs at which the Stationary measurement is taken varies dependant on the capacity of your engine, ie 7000 revs for a 750cc...

My panigale base model was measured at 105 db which is the max for a uk race or "noisy" track day. Many uk track days run as low as 96db. My Kawasaki is no better with a full yoshi system at 105db. I have to shove a bit of wadding around the db killer to get it through a 104 db day.

Rockingham booked for this weekend on The kwack, and then 3 days at Jerez in October - still not decided what bike to take to Spain !

Seriously... Jerez in Oct and you have to think about what bike to take.... Really? What do you expect people on a Ducati 1199 forum to say!?

I Ride: 1199 Panigale
Been there a few times myself, its a nice track with plenty of runoff room but totally flat, personally I prefer the altitude change and blind rise from Road Atlanta along with the technical nature of Barber.
I guess that's because I've lived in FLAT Florida all my life..lol

Jammy bugger by the way...

PS I have full termi system, wouldn't settle for anything less, if noise test done properly shouldn't have any probs, although will do with the 96db restriction days, but then surely most decent bikes with a system on it would struggle also?

I had no probs at Donnington.
